    Default Irregular Disconnection with UT300R2U

    Hi,

From couple of day I am experiencing irregular break in BSNL connectivity. I have UT300R2U modem which I purchased two years back from BSNL. This is connected with the Linksys WRT54G. I am unsure if the issue is with the Line or the Modem. When I am facing this issue I observe the LED indicator of Ethernet keep blinking and DSL and Internet indicators are not glowing at all. This continues sometime for over an hour and I am disconnected. However, sometime I observe all the indicators on the modem glows continuously this is the time I am connected and keep that way for couple of hours and suddenly something happens and I get disconnected. I tried troubleshooting by connecting the modem directly to the PC and eliminating WRT54G from middle. Also I switched from PPPoE mode to bridge mode but I still end up in situation. I am hoping someone will help me to understand this.

    TIA,
    Shiju

    Thanks Meetdilip,

It seems the downstream numbers are excellent. Not sure if it is with the upstream numbers. Also, I can only connect to the 192.168.1.1 when the all lights in the modem is glowing and internet is connected. otherwise I cannot even take this reading.

    Hi Meetdilip,

I have changed it GDMT and it still disconnects - This is how my connection status when I am disconnected. What else I can troubleshoot?

I have also noticed an AC power from the modem adaptor do you think it might be because of this?

Do you hear a hissing sound / or any other disturbance while using land line ?

Tried another modem ? It may solve the issue if it is modem related.

Thanks for the replies I guess I have figured out what is the issue. I have changed my BSNL modem adaptor with the Linksys WRT54G Adaptor and it has been worked for the 2 whole day. Only bad thing is I am out of wifi now - atlest I have constant internet connectivity -

The BSNL adaptor was 10v~550mA and Linksys adaptor is 12v~1A still linksys adaptor works. I know nothing about electronics but I checked with all my local shops for the adaptor with both specification but non of them could glow the power button of the modem.

I checked with the ebay for the adaptor but it cost more than the BSNL modem or wifi router.

    shop.ebay.in/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=linksys+power+adaptor &_sacat=See-All-Categories

    Thanks

The out put power is D.C I presume . Please use symbol = instead of ~

Now a days transformer type PSU are out of date .
You can get a switching adapter compact PSU rated 110-240V A.C ~ INput
    output 12V D.C = 1Amp with D.C power plug Inner marked +ve etc.
    Right now:
Netgear WGR614v6wifi router is running on this type output 12V D.C= 1 Amp
    2.
One make LPP( made in India) In 220-230V AC~ 20mA output 9VDC= 1000ma used for another SMC wifi router without any problem.
    (heavy transformer type Plug in)

Delhi make D.C adapters ( old model) may be available with marked MRP Rs 400/= on the box for Rs 250 or so!!! . check out !
we are likely to get SMPS power supplies 12V DC, with 1 , 2 or 3 amps at a price ranging 150 to 250.
one 'silicon' brand is being made and sold in India. http://www.siliconindia.co.in/adapters.htm
