Default Which is the best wifi modem?

I have recently purchased Teracom Wifi ADSL 2+ T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI modem from BSNL for Rs. 1,800/-

It is not even working properly within radius of 10 meter in flat. There are some barriers like walls and doors.

I want a wifi modem which can work (catch 100% connectivity) for at least 30 meter in radius in flat even after barriers like walls and doors. Is there any recommendations?

In general, wireless routers currently offering the best Wi-Fi signal range, however, are 802.11n (sometimes called "wireless N") units. Where standard 802.11b and 802.11g routers contain just one Wi-Fi radio and antenna, wireless N routers contain two or three radios specifically designed to maximize Wi-Fi range. Note that the actual range and performance of any wireless router varies substantially depending on conditions of the environment such as obstructions and radio interference.
Radius of approx 30 feet In the same ground level.?

Position the router at a higher height. also near the window.

try to rotate the unit ( antenna parallel to the ground)
and check signal level Pattern is figure of 8.

Example. Max in North/South or East/west direction

In Network settings page check Wlan adapter ( advanced settings) Max power has been selected for each laptop.

A model with multiple antennae . A "Buffalo"2N model recommended.
or use the 2N wifi router
and connect both with Rj45 cable .
    Para two:

If the Antenna is detachable a Dish type Antenna can be used.
.or Vertical Antenna with higher gain.

How many desktops/laptops in Use ? Which OS is used in all ?

Give some Feedback on above, for more suggestions for High power/high cost wifi routers.

FOR REFERENCE freq we use around 2.4.GHz. band.
    Power output Class 4 (+33dBm ±2dB)
    Class 4 (2 W) for GSM 900; Class 3 (0.25 W) for UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA; Class E2 (0.5 W) for. EDGE 900/1800; Class E2 (0.4 W) for EDGE 1800; Class 1 (1 W) for GSM ... for USB modems type

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I need radius 30-40 meter in same ground level.
I cannot keep the wifi modem near window as it is far away from the desktop pc where it is being connected through lan.

Currently, the BSNL Wifi modem is connected through LAN to one desktop PC which has Win 7 32 bit.

I use wifi connection for laptop which has Win 7 64 bit and Samasung Galaxy Ace mobile which has android.

I didn't understand most of the technical term which you have mentioned. I even don't know how to add/configure router to bsnl wifi modem.

If you think, router is the best option then can you please suggest which model router should be used.

    Thank you again.

    Option 1;
A model with multiple antennae . A "Buffalo"2N model recommended.
or use the 2N wifi routerand connect both with Rj45 cable .

    option 2 :
You have to buy two or three wifi models of same Brand ( preferred) having WDS Repeater mode.
    No wire connection.
    Probably cost around Rs 15000/=
    feedback. on option selected.

Repeater. Few Entry Level APs (D-Link 900AP+, Linksys WAP11) can work as a Repeaters. It acts like a client to receive a signal a Wireless source (regular Wireless Router, or AP), and then switches to AP mode to broadcasts to regular clients. Such a configuration can be used to extend the range of a Wireless LAN.

When Access Point is used in Client Mode, or configured as a Repeater it is advisable to use hardware of the same Brand.

    Hey! Thank again.

I would prefer option 1 as I don't want a house full of modems/routers. It will look like if I am providing a broadband service of my own. LOL!

Can you please let me know about Buffalo 2N? Is it a company name? I googled but didn't got anything on it. Can you also post the price for it.

15000 for option 2 will put a heavy load in my ass.

    TRENDnet | Products | 150Mbps Wireless N Access Points | TEW-650AP
check this model price less than Rs 2000/=

Try with lanRj45 cable. from existing BSNL wifi router.

Later another similar model may connect in wifi mode without cables.
Not tried. Statuary Warning !At your own Risk !!

( this model has what is called WDS mode to connect another same company ( preferred)wifi router without cables. Also detachable Antenna. we can add a higher gain antenna available in market or even fabricate ourselves.details available in web )

In Brief: Buy any 2N wifi router with multiple antennae ( and preferably one detachable antenna/ port) connect to BSNLl router.

    May be available here:

No problem. check the emulator. click the menu items
almost same like your BSNL unit.
    TEW-650AP
Usually a wizard will need very few entries.
Which ever model you select check this facility.
Connect the unit and run emulator.
you may get error messages also may be.

The dealer will set it up. give some details to him !!

Don't forget to give feedback here . when your set up is successful.
    Thanks.

May be of interest. wifi via power cable. in the house.
