    A DNS server is any computer registered to join the Domain Name System. A DNS server runs special-purpose networking software, features a public IP address, and contains a database of network names and addresses for other Internet hosts.

    Choice is yours. sometimes BSNL DNS servers are the best !

    UPDATE:
    selected 8.8.4.4 reported faster by 782.7% compared to 208.67.220.220( present one )
    Changed and tested speed .
    not much difference. ( Fair&Lovely" test !!)
    Browsing experience later.
    8.8.4.4 Mountain View in California.
    Surprisingly
    @Just4Kix conclusion proved correct.who recommended BSNL's DNS
    most of the time
    Now someone can do "NameBench" test with BSNL's and give feedback.
    The other DNS recommended by "Namebench" : are BSNL's !!!
    NIB's at NDL1NMS-A.SANCHARNET.IN MY Location CHENNAI.

    Apart from resolving domain name, Open DNS has some security aspects too. It blocks many malware sites. During the time of Conficker Virus they used to block Conficker domains free of cost. So it is better a option compared to other DNS. Not sure if there is any content filtering for Google DNS.

    No google dns doesnt filter content..

    in open dns you can sign up and make your account to monitor your network..
    and also make a prefered list of what sites should open on your network..

    but google dns has nothing like that..
