    Default internet slowdown

I had a Bsnl ul750+ home a year ago which had a download speed of 256kbps which was pretty good for browsing and for torrent download it was at the of 100-120kbps, i disconnected the net for three months and applied for a new line but this time they increased the speed from 256kbps to 512kbps which is good and that to for the same price, but the problem is browsing got worser, it would take more than 15 minutes to open a page sometime it wont open, and the downloading rate gone down to 50kbps, what might be the prob?

I use a Bsnl adsl s4u+v1.0 model modem does this have to do something with modem settings, RAM, TCP/IP settings

1KBps=8kbps.almost all download managers/torrent clients/bandwidth monitoring applications use KBps while all ISP's states connection speed in kbps.(512/8)=64KBps.for browsing problems try different browsers like firefox, chrome etc.if the page opens fine using proxy sites like anonymouse then problem might be with dns settings.if proxy sites too show same result but download speed in torrent/dl manager is ~60KBps then scan your computer for viruses.RAM has nothing to do with dl speeds & if you can get a steady speed of ~60KBps in download then very little chance of problem with the telephone line.

    2.adsl s4u+v1.0 model modem
This is similar to models listed in my signature link "teracom"
If the same unit was used earlier, and no changes were made,
    recheck settings again.
You could have opened it to make changes for your new connection.
    3.
    Briefly, Try Google DNS 8.8.4.4
    Report SNR/ATTN details
speed test here twice . and give results.
