Hi friends,
I got my new netgear DGN1000 modem+router but am having trouble connecting it to bsnl broadband

Am having bsnl braodband 'Login' kind of connection. I hav tried the settings i could find from dis website but still i couldnt get my internt connction to work with dis modem..

Guys any of u using such netgear modem with bsnl broadband conection can u help me on how to configure my modem for bsnl broadband..eagerly waiting fr ur guidance

thanks for da quick reply pal...previously i was using SmartAX MT882...nw i hav brought Netgear DGN1000 Adsl2+ modem & router nd trying to connct da same

The only BSNL specific settings are

1. VPI/VCI = 0/35

2. In the VPI/VCI 0/35 entry, use BSNL Username and password.

hey dilip i hav tried the setting in ur posts but i was not able to get internt access through modem...

here am putting da router status page as it is appearing after configuring as in da posts u hav sent me...

i hav reset da setting on my modem enterd my usrname nd pass nd nw itz wrkng...

i am not able to connect to the internet ..

i feeded all the correct configurations in the modem setup but still i am not able to get the green dsl light ..

it turns red at start up and after that it never turns green..

@subramanyam...I think the problm might be with the wire connctions..first check whether all da connection u made r properly done if da problem persists just call to the bsnl broadband complaints no. nd report da same dey'll check da line given to ur home.....

from my recent experience i knw dat there r no remarkable setting dat u hav to make for netgear modem...1)RESET, 2)enter USERNME nd PASSWRD nd 3) Ur Done!...dis has worked for me....!

i configured every thing possible but still i am not able connect to internet

so i desided to contact customer care ,,,

and i dictated my prob to them && they said that there is somthing prob with my modem ,,,, BUT I denied it as i tried it on an airtel broadband connection and i works perfectly fine ,, i cant detect any problem from bsnl broadband


one more thing i borrowed a BSNL modem from my friend & tried it even that is working fine ..

i tried it (* DGN1000) on an airtel broadband connection and i works perfectly fine

used line 1_32 and Airtel ID/PW in Lan and or WIfi mode.

What changes you made in DGN1000 to connect to BSNL Broadband ?

configuring net gear modem with bsnl broadband:
@akash,poovan it's simple try this
step1: reset ur modem
step2:enter modem configuration page
step3:click basic settings
step4: select yes in does ur internet connection need a login ?
select PPPoe in encapsulation
enter ur bsnl username and password and click apply
step5:click adsl settings
select llc-based in multiplexing method
enter VPI - 0 and VCI - 35 and click apply
den restart ur modem

i am not sure. what you said is the same thing i have done on my router/modem (netgear DGN1000). this post i am writing through the internet access provided by the above router only.

my problem is a bit different. when i connect to the inter net with this router, there are lot of sites wich are in accessible. but the same sites are accessible when i connect via the router provided by BSNL (Huawai Wa1003A). i tried what ever was possible by my self.

@sornasundar: i have the same settings, as ou explained. can access the net but partially.

some sites open
some sites open partially
some sites keep on waiting to open
some sites doesn't open at all (blank page ... status done).

check MTU value in Advanced WAN page. set to 1492 or lower 1484 1476 etc. ( step of 8)

try Tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net for optimal settings.

It seems to be a problem of the DNS servers. Somehow the router is not getting assigned the primary and secondary DNS Servers. I tried adding them manually but seems are not correct servers. I am tring to reach bsnl cc since morning, but you know it is bsnl, and if they work and provide service to customers, india will become a developed country. Will keep on trying and will post my resolution here.

Just enter 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220
Google dns and Open dns.

That too didn't solved the problem. Some dns settings can open one set of sites and others can open other set of sites.

BSNL CC said that thet can't support third party routers. And they them self don't have a N routers. I am stuck up.

I needed a high speed adsl router, thats why I purchased this one. It is not really making any sense to me why the router provided by them (bsnl) works, but not others on their setup.

Guys, please someone help me.

Please RESET to FActory settings the modem/router
Try to use the SETUP Wizard.

Thanks to all for your timely help.Now it is working fine.Actually i made the mistake in entering the BSNL username .I mentioned as @dataone.in instead of @dataone.So that the problem arised.

the router provided by bsnl is "Huawai Wa1003A". i am attaching the connection log for the bsnl router (log.txt). see if that helps you deciding the settings for my netgear router. The "DNS servers assigned", "default gateway", "MTU", whatever i was able to find in the BSNL router, i tried with the Netgear router. but all for nothing.

i am not able to visit the paypal.com for example via netgear, while it is possible via bsnl router. there are a few other sites which have same behavior. there are certain sites which are never loaded completely like some images will not load or the style sheet will be missing.

really getting frustrated now.
