Thread: Bsnl ZTE modem stopped working suddenly !!

I was using internet.. suddenly the power went off.. my pc restarted.. also the modem (ZTE 831AII)

After this, the modem is not working.. Its turning on, but the problem is that, its not getting the DSL signal. i can access 192.168.1.1 and checked DSL STATE .. its wriiten dsl state is FALSE..

I tried connecting the modem through different cables.. still no solution!! my telephone is working without any problem..


Now, i tried connecting with another modem.. it works perfectly..

What may be the problem of the modem ? Can i fix it ?

This is only the configuration ..

I dont have this problem.. my problem is that, the modem is not receiving the dsl signal..

Reset the modem to factory settings and reconfigure it.

No.. that even not solved the problem..

I am afraid it is. Since another modem is working fine, it could be a modem problem. Take the modem to your exchange and ask them to check it. See if it is getting connected there. If within warranty, try to get a replacement.

It is advisable to always connect the modem to UPS to avoid such cases.

Yes. i think its a modem problem. and its not in warranty period..

Should i buy a new modem? BSNL is not giving new modems.

It is wise to buy a BSNL modem as otherwise they will blame your modem even for line issues and refuse to support. A wifi modem comes for Rs. 80 per month rent of Rs. 1,800 outright purchase. For a non WiFi modem it is Rs. 50 rent and Rs. 1,100 outright purchase.

i contacted BSNL.. they said, they are not supplying modems now..

So i decided to buy modem from other companies.. which is best ?

why not take the modem and let the bsnl techie try it and re configure for you at his preemies?
later you can change the name and password.
if it fails, then you can think.
perhaps it is a case of needing reset and re configure fresh, or re-load firmware

confirm menu pages similar to this.

Perhaps, a case of firmware corruption.

Can i correct the firmware problem ??
I tried updating the firmware with the same version itself.. but no solution yet !!
