Question Which router to get from residential use

So, i've got the BSNL 900c Plan and i also have a modem through which i connect to the internet. Now however, i'd like to go wireless, I've already got a modem, so am i right in presuming that i only need a Router ?

If so, which router would be suitable for use at home ?
I live in a flat, and the minimum range of network that i require is 100ft...i guess 150 would be best.
Obstacles are just walls and doors and humans.

What I'm looking for is something that's durable, non buggy and cheap.

    Awaiting any responses.

    Option One;
You may need two wifi routers to be connected with RJ45 cable.
    ( cost approx Rs 3200/=)

    Option 2:
or buy two wifi routers having WDM ( wireless distribution Mode).
of same make which will connect with each other without wires.
( (cost approx Rs 7000/= to Rs 9000/=)

Option 3 :2N wifi router with multiple or detachable Antenna
with external antenna. ( cost approx Rs 4000/= to Rs 5000/=)
    Para Two:

    Mention present modem/make/model/number
Whether can be exchanged /rent a wifi router from BSNL?
( Rs 80/P.M) to test range.
How many laptops in wifi Mode will be active within a radius of
150 feet and at differnt heights ( first floor Second floor etc )

    Hmmm
Why wud it take 2 routers instead of 1 ? If it is because of the range of 150 ft then I guess i can make do with a 100 ft range router as well. I'm looking for something under Rs. 2000...if reasonably good in performance.

Present modem: Aztech Systems DSL600EU (ADSL2 + ETHERNET)

All devices will be at same height (2nd floor)

There will be max 2 laptops and 2 phones connected to the internet wirelessly and 1 PC by ethernet cable.

Can't get a modem for testing range and neither can it be exchanged.

    (A)
    Option 3 :selected.
2N wifi router with multiple or detachable Antenna
with external antenna. ( cost approx Rs 4000/= to Rs 5000/=)

Less the External Antenna cost can be below Rs 2500/=

    (B)
Can you check in your laptop having a wlan card ( builtin or inserted)
whether you find any wifi networks ( either secured/or unsecured).?
Create a wifi network in a laptop.
wait... for picture no wifi router in use.

ICon in TaskBar shows connected in LAN mode.
cannot access above networks because security key not known.
Signal strength shown should be normal.
    (C)
Mention OS used : Windows 7/Vista/ XP sp2 etc.

    @bingbang
    congrats.
It would have helped @zain , if you had mentioned the model number/make , so that he can also use same model, within his home range of 150 feet or scaled down to 100 feet .

You can confirm your home range, so that @zain can also be.happy ! .

The desktop has XP SP2 or is it SP3 . Not sure
    Laptop has Windows 7

I know about the BSNL modem. But i think thats a chinese piece.... And its also an ADSL+ Router...

and i meant it above* i live in second floor and one of my frnd who lives in 5th floor within the same bldg, gets my wifi connection (but signal is weak, he gets 3 bar out of 5) thats what i meant. So that's the condition apply for above.

Thanks for confirming the probable DISTANCE for wifi reception.

The range height wise can be taken as 30 feet ? But signal is weak.
(Ground level of 2nd floor to Ground level of 5th floor approx 30 feet
Ground level of 2nd floor to Ceiling of 5th floor appro 40 feet )
