Exclamation Ping Very High Plz Help

I have BBG ULD 850 Plan. I was having some problems with speed. There were many joints in the wire from DP to my splitter. So i called the lineman and got the wire changed. Now its a single wire direct from the DP to my splitter.

The speed is now very good. Always above 1 Mbps. Also the download speed i get in torrents is between 125 kBps to 150 kBps. But the problem after changing the wire is that the Ping is very high. Before changing the wire it was always less than 100 ms but after it goes between 400 ms to 2500 ms. So i have many problems in online games.

Please give some suggetion what to do.Thanks in advance.

Note: I've already tried Opendns and google dns but no change in ping.

Try contact JE at telephone exchange and explain him about your High latency (High Ping) problem.

Are pings high to all servers ? or just to servers in a particular country ?

Try pinging different websites, figure out which countries they are in; and then post your results (e.g. avg ping to US, EU, India, SE asia, Japan, Australia, middle east etc).

Typically Indian and SE asian servers should be 50-100ms
    EU should be 175-225ms
    US should be 290-340ms

BSNL is known to have a wide range of latencies, because they change routing a lot and often choose cheap/bad routes.

Also a lot of these routes become congested quite often; especially in peak times to/from that region - leading to terrible latency.
When this happens the latencies stated above can be easily 150-200 above normal (or more). Also along with this you will probably see moderate to heavy packet loss.

Other ISP's like airtel have slightly higher average latencies, but are more reliable - less jitter, tighter latency range, less "server down" bullcrap, and generally a lot less packet loss. However they are considerably more expensive.

I frequently monitor pings to different zone servers so if you post this information I could at least say if you're pings are normal.

About dns servers: a lot of people on these boards suggest changing dns servers but yeah it has negligieble effect on pings. However that being said you can sometimes get a minor latency reduction of 10-15ms. Then again I believe each time you connect to bsnl a slightly different route is taken, so changing dns server is only as good as reconnecting from the perspective of latency.

Maybe you have exceeded your download limit at full speed and you are capped at 256 kBps so naturally you will experience itches and glitches while gaming online... just check
