Went to exchange today for a friend. He wanted to have broadband in his present land line. I was surprised to know that BSNL no longer provides modem for its customers. The Technical officer said that they will be configuring 3rd party modems for the customers. And guess what all over the stores, BSNL modems are out of stock. As my friend had some needs with the internet connection, we finally settled for a dual antenna N Type modem plus router from D link. Costs Rs. 2,800. It is bit costly but had no choice. BSNL modem were good. The local guy whom BSNL has outsourced has found a new mode on income in the form of modems. It is really sad to know we no longer get WiFi modems for Rs. 80 per month rent![]()
