    @essbebe

hi there, i followed the procedure described by sarabjeet and replace with vci value by 35. The internet is working fine while connected with the cable, however i cannot use it on wifi. The wifi connection gets connected but i cannot access internet.

I wish to setup a wifi connection where i can use more than one laptops at a time and it gets connected directly, without the reqirement of username and password every time.

    Please advice.

Enable DHCP in modem and give a range say 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10
    Try without any security key.

If lan cable is connected to laptop remove it when testing for wifi

    feedback.

without the reqirement of username and password every time.
Not clear. Are you now in PPPoE mode
(UserID/PW stored in modem WAN page )
    13. Select protocol as PPPoE
    14. Select the PPPoE Configuration as 'with PPPoE (Bridge ???)'
    15. Click next button utill page comes for user name password, enter your login details
    16. Click on Finish button

Mention your mode, PPPoE or Bridge ? You need to set your modem in PPPoE mode to connect multiple machines at the same time. Then enable DHCP in your modem and in the TCP/IP properties of your connection (in all machines ), set " Obtain IP address automatically.

If you are too confused or feel it difficult, you can try the following method.

Connectify for Windows - Turn your Laptop or Smartphone into a Secure Wi-Fi Hotspot

    Here is a tutorial

    @meetdilip -

Protocol is PPPoE and the PPPoE Config is with PPPoE bridge. I can access internet on multiple(two) laptops simultaneously by ethernet cables. When i remove the cable and try connecting wifi, it gets connected to wireless conection already set up but with "no internet access".

@essbebe - with the information above, would you still suggest to enable DHCP with the range suggested by you? Also would you kindly guide me on how to do so as i am not sure about how to do so.

    Thanks

@ Meetdilip - TCP/IP settings are already on automatic mode

@ essebebe - I tried changing the range but i get the following msg

    Form Input - Accepted

    Host IP Configuration successfully saved.

However the DHCP server IP pool had to be
changed to exist on the Host network.

You can verify the new settings to ensure the new DHCP pool is satisfactory.

Also please advise if i have to make any changes in default gateway. my default gateway values are 192.168.254.254

    Thanks

Hi Firends, My modem had stopped working so i reset it to factory settings and then again i configured it for BSNL as described in the posts above. I enabled the wireless connection while setting up. Now the problem is that can connect it with the Ethernet cable but cannot connect to the wireless conection set up. I tried the following security options:-
    1. Security Disabled
    2. WEP 64
    3. WEP 128
    4 WPA - PSK
    5 WPA - AES

But i cannot connect to the wireless network available.

    I am using Windows 7

    Thanks

    1.
In laptop(1) connected to Internet using Rj45 cable.
    Download application "connectify" and install.
    http://download.cnet.com/Connectify/...=dl&tag=button
Laptop (1) will work as an AP.
Test in Laptop (2) if available or a friend's without any cables.

    2:;
In wifi pages check any MAC address filtering/white list etc
    Disable all

    3.
When you try Windows 7 Diagnostics for Network
what error message you get ?

    4.
Post ipconfig /all data for wireless LAN only.
    ( NO tunnel data )
    5.
If possible screen shot of wifi settings page of wifi router.

    feedback.

    1. After setting up wireless, reboot the modem and try.

    2. Are you able to see the WiFi network name in both of your laptops?

    3. Are you able to connect both laptops simultaneously using the ethernet cable ? If yes, update the WiFi card drivers and check.

    4. Even not connected to connectify network ? some issue with the wifi card.

yes i am able to connect both laptops at the same time with Ethernet cable at the same time.

I am able to see the network name on both the laptops, but the modem is not blinking the "WLAN" LED.

What to update? the driver in windows or the firmware of the router?

It was working fine till today morning and all of a sudden it stopped. I tried resetting 3-4 times but it didnt get connected. then i reset it with factory default and configured it again.

I am not sure whats wrong with connectify. I dont actually know how to use Connectify. It started showing in connections so i uninstalled it.

Please guide me how to use connectify and i ll try as u guide.

    Give this a try

Turn Your Windows 7 Laptop into a WiFi Hotspot with Connectify - How-To Geek

Install on both (one at a time) and check if other laptop is detecting the connectify network.

Hope you disabled the encryption for wifi. If not, disable it and check.

If possible, try to get a wifi modem from a friend and check at your place. May be some error in modem.

At first, don't add any encryption. Check whether you can connect to WiFi. If working, then add WPA - TKIP.

The problem is that its very unstable and the modem keeps on rebooting itself very frequently and i am almost unable to use the internet even effectively for 1 minute at a stretch.
