Smile How to Connect Linksys VOIP Adapter[PAP2T] with Beetel 220BX ADSL2+ Modem?

Hello All..

If anyone using Voip with BSNL, tell me how to connect the VOIP through Beetel 220BX ADSL2+ Modem. Is it necessary to connect a ROUTER in between a Beetel 220 BX Adsl2+ Modem and Linksys Voip Adapter? Are any of the ports blocked for Beetel 220BX avoiding connection with Linksys Voip [PAP2T]?

Please help me in resolving my problem. I'll be thankful..

Default How to Connect Linksys VOIP Adapter[PAP2T] with Beetel 220BX ADSL2+ Modem?

My parents are using Vonage VOIP in Bangalore with BSNL and so far it has worked like a charm but they have a Motorola VT2442 (Vonage supplied device) which is a 4 port router / phone adapter. I am not sure if your Linksys PAP 2 is from Vonage but it should be the same(i.e. Just 1 WAN port and 2 Phone Jacks and no LAN ports since it is not a router) in which case it is better to put it behind a router(unless your Beetel itself has multiple ethernet ports) now keep in mind if your modem has just 1 ethernet and 1 USB YOU CANNOT USE THE USB. IT HAS TO BE ONLY THE ETHERNET(You cannot connect the PAP2 to ethernet and computer to the USB). Even if your connection type is PPPoE you will require a router. My parents have DHCP, so it should be the same for you also. So the best connection in your case will be

Beetel 220BX >> 2 or 4 port Router >> Computer and PAP2 and it should work nicely.

BSNL does not block any ports so the Beetel's firewall should also let any VOIP traffic in/out without any problem.

Good Luck

ensure that you are in ppoe mode in your bsnl router.. also ensure that dhcp is enabled in your router. you would need a pc to check all this!!
