    Question Modem auto reboot!

    Hi,
I use the 500 C home plan of BSNL. Of late (a week or so) my modem's acting weird. it reboots on it's own. there's no fixed interval as to how and when it'll reboot...but i do receive the normal speed during the time it works...then for no reason the DSL and Internet lights disappear and then it follows the routine like the modem's being just switched on. My modem's DNA-A201BE1.
    would sincerely appreciate help.

Does it power reboot ? Means does the power light also go off while rebooting ? If yes, check the modem's power adapter.

Make sure all connections comes after splitter. Check this diagram

Also check splitter. Bypass it, connect directly to the modem and check.

Does it occur during only at night ? If yes, check with exchange.

    How do you connect ?
Dialer mode ( "bridged"( Enter UserID/PW is system window )
PPPoE mode ( Userid/PW stored/entered permanently . in WAN page of modem)? 'Always On"
    (002)
Connect all Phones ONLY after the ADSL splitter to Phone port.
No direct phone in any room to BSNL Phone outlet.(Box)
    (003)
If possible give SNR ATTN ( of modem) data from Statistics ADSL menu
    this page ? confirm.

    1) it doesn't power reboot
2)all connections are after and through the splitter only
    3) it's not time specific...it occurs sometimes at different times in a day
4)i didn't understand what you meant by 'bypassing the splitter'?

    thanks for the help

i got what meant by bypassing the splitter..so far so good... no issues..but like i said..it occurs randomly..like it's got a mind of it's own! 'll watch it this way for a while....
btw..is there any danger to the modem or the computer by this bypass of the splitter...i've noticed that my landline's (land phone) dead...but it's no use otherwise too :P as the set's quite inaudible!
    thanks again!

Nice. Bypassing splitter may cause some noise in telephone line. Otherwise no drawback. Check for some time. If everything is fine, get a new splitter and check. Hope it works.

    004:
    In your telephone line there a a D.C voltage (40V to 60V=)+ A.C (110V~for ringer.)
The splitter supposed to block DATA signals and give easy access for VOICE signals to the phone.
    005:
Whether the splitter is faulty or not Modem is ALWAYS connected to BSNL phone junction.
    006 :
Connect the phone directly and check Audio/Dial tone.
If weak complain. ( shows line drop, which can affect your broadband connection also )
use a good telephone. ( recent models have Volume control adjustment )
007:. Whether you use the telephone or not, preferable to keep a telephone connected.

Reboot maynot be due to line alone.Could be due to a firmware issue too.
