Wireless broadband has its own drawback. It is not yet ready in India to be used as a primary connection. But if it is the only choice, you can opt it. BSNL EvDO gives good speed unlimited at just Rs. 750 per month. But I still prefer a wired broadband.

You can choose UL 750, UL 499 or Home Combo 500 or 600. First two are completely unlimited and other two has high speed night unlimited.

Just my personal opinion. Wait for further comments.

I think EvDO is not WLL. In my place, WLL gives only 118 (16 KBps) Kbps which is much less than 256 Kbps (32 KBps) for UL 499. UL 499 is a wired broaband plan. I think WLL is unlimited at 210 or 250 Rupees (not sure which one). So you choose WLL if you are ok with low speed and your budget is less. Also WLL phone may heat up causing disconnection during long duration use.

The better choice would be EVDO - optimal price of Rs.1500(purchase one time only)+Rs.500 for activation = Rs.2000 in total, monthly charges of Rs.750, unlimited usage & you can get around 1 Mbps(However, the advertised speed is upto 2.4 Mbps).I am telling you that from my personal knowledge as i have used this before.

Just checked with a friend using WLL. He pays Rs. 110 + tax per month and the speed is 144 Kbps (18 KBps). It is purely unlimited. You can use as much as you can. There is only one plan for BSNL WLL.

For BSNL broadband plans, check here

well WLL always better, i heard people living in rural areas also get some discounts.. (check locally in bsnl exchange if you are area is within rural or urban- they can surprise you )

WLL is very quick.. never disconnects(personaly used).. has stubborn 100+kbps.. never gives up... good for basic browsing... downloads etc...

people should choose WLL over landline because of its usefulness.

Broadband is advisable. You have more options on Speed and tariff, which gives good experience is net.

WLL is of very low speed and sooner you will fed up.

My WLL rates for a rural exchange. May differ for urban areas. Check with local exchange for exact rates. BSNL site says Rs. 250 (I got values from someone actually using it just for net)

BSNL site link : WLL TARIFF CARD

If you can afford, try UL 499 (wired broadband). Give 256 Kbps unlimited. Same without telephone rent as UL Combo 625.

Or choose BBG FN Combo 500 or BBG FN Combo 600. Both has 2 Mbps speed but has day time bandwidth restrictions. No telephone rent. The advantage of these plans are they give unlimited download between 2 -8 am @ 2 Mbps. No need to wake up at that time, you can automate the whole process.

Yes, definitely too much. I think there must be some mistake. Check with some other exchange and confirm. May be the exchange people at your area are ignorant. Are you from an urban area ?

If they stick to the rates, better get a broadband connection.

India is a big country and any suggestion given will not be applicable everywhere.( State/City/Town/Urban/Rural/Circle etc also "bakshish" rates !! The amount Rs 5000/= appears to include cost of cables also!!! or "cha pani "!!!

If others in your area others have BSNL telephone connection,
WLL may not be available. This is meant for areas where, BSNL could not lay telephone cables. (Also a BSNL tower should be available nearby,)

WLL is basically CDMA 1X mobile service with landline style (11 digit incl STD code) numbering and without roaming facility.

It is available wherever CDMA 1X service is available, including places where normal wired Landline is also available.

For CDMA 1X the theoretical MAXIMUM speed is 155 kbps. So it would never be any match for wired Broadband speeds which starts at MINIMUM 256 kbps.

EVDO is the 3G version of the same service.

It really depends on what you will use the internet for, what your budget is and what you look for in an internet connection.

Typically wireless internet is mostly awful; with greater unreliability, higher costs, lower speeds and less bandwidth than similarly priced wired plans.
