Rep Power: 0 | Dear Readers, Iam using a HCL laptop with XP loaded and also have WIFI - LAN built in. I have done some configuration and after that Iam able to detect the Wireless router (WA3002-G1) from my laptop when i go and use "View all wireless Network option", it is displaying me the wireled modem which I have. But when I press "CONNECT" it is not getting connected , it is hanging for a while with a message saying "Please wait till the network gets connected..." but after some this message box also goes.. and my Wireless Icon in the task bar is still NOT ACTIVE. Hence kindly requesting any one to help me out what needs to be done still in order to get it connected to Wireless network and access the internet. Thanks in Advance V.Swaminathan P.S configration to the modem what I did is as follows. Turn ur wireless "On" in ur laptop. And do a search for available networks. U shud probably find a network that is unsecured, connect to this. If you are not able to do this, just plug ur laptop to the router using a normal LAN cable at first. Then follow the steps given below. 1) Open any web browser, and type 192.168.1.1. Open this page. 2) You should get a dialog asking for username and password. 3) Enter "admin" for both and you will enter the router status page. 4) Click on "Interface setup" at the top of the page. 5) Just below that menu, u'll find 3 more - Internet, LAN, Wireless. 6) Click on wireless, and make sure the parameters are as follows... Access point - Activated. SSID - <You can give any name here, lets u identify ur network> Authentication - WPA2 - PSK (MOST IMPORTANT) Encryption - AES Pre-Shared Key - <Give anything, BUT MAKE SURE U REMEMBER WHAT U TYPED> (This needs to be entered on ur laptop too...) leave the rest of the options as it is. And scroll down to the bottam of the page, and click on "Save". Now get to ur wireless networks on ur laptop, and search for available networks. U Shud find a network having the same name as the SSID, connect to this network by providing the "Pre-Shared Key(PSK)". That's it... Ur done. If you want to autodial an internet connection from the router itself. On the same router page (192.168.1.1), go to Interface setup>Internet Scroll down till u get the options "Dynamic IP, static IP etc etc" here select PPPoA/PPPoE... type ur username and password and deactivate bridge interface. Anything else? do search the forums...Im sure someone might have already answered ur question... |
