Question How to Configure BSNL BB Modem

    Dear Sir(s),

Till date I am using Huawei Smart AX MT 880, and I was comfortable with the same. But I have decided to make my home WiFi, so that all members can use net simultaneously, if required.

Thus I have purchased ADSL Data One Model Type - II, manufactured by ZTE and Model No is. ZXDSL 531B.

Make search in google and opened the fallowing site WITH OLD MODEM.
Configure ZTE ZXDSL 531 (TYPE-2) 4-LAN/Wireless LAN Modem for BSNL broadband

And saved this page. Then connected new modem and opened the saved page. Performed moreover same steps as described at the said site and entered correct user name and PW.

But No result, again connected old modem and writing this.
As described in the said web page, not exact screen appears. This is for your kind information.

One thing I would like to clarify that I have not purchased this modem from BSNL, but purchased from a friend who opted for another ISP and the said modem was laying with him, as unused since last six months.

Please help to configure the same so that my home will become WiFi.

    Thanks in advance.

At least, you should give some more info about the model you have, instead of repeating same. 3 website links given not same for your model.
My modem is manufactured by ZTE and Model No is. ZXDSL 531B
    .
There are many versions, and what members have suggested is the one
    usually reported here.
    2.
Post the Device Info or Connection Status page of your unit.
    EXAMPLE:
some thing like this : similar model for links given in the thread so far.

    3
Probably menu pages of your model will be/may be in Blue color !!

    Feedback.

Don't go by the name. There are different modems with similar interface. As essbebe suggested, please post the modem menu page.

One of my friend encountered the similar problem like this, it can be sorted out by making some changes in the adapter setting part of the control panel.

    Congrats

Follow steps 13 - 17 of the first link I gave or check this

Step-13: In the SSID Text box type a name with which your wireless network can be identified. (This can be your name or your organisations name)
Step-14: Scroll down and click on Save/Apply button.
Step-15: After a few seconds Wireless - Basic page will appear again. Click on Security on the left hand side.
Step-16: In the Wireless Security page on the right hand side, Click on the Network Authentication drop down list and select WPA-PSK. Now in the WPA Pre-Shared Key text box just below it, type a password (minimum 8 characters). The is going to be the keyword with which you can enter into the wireless network identified by the name given in the SSID field.
    Step-17: Click on Save/Apply button.
Step-185: After a few seconds Wireless - Security page will appear again. Click on Management on the left hand side.
Step-16: Click on Save/Reboot under Management.
Step-17: Click on Save/Reboot button on the right hand side. DSL Router Reboot page will appear and will remain for 2 minutes.

After 2 minutes Device Info page will appear. Close the internet explorer. Wait for the lamps to settle and start browsing. You have successfully configured the WA3002G4 modem for Wireless working..
    This may help

well the link i mentioned is the only official link to the readme file for this particular modem. so i dont think any1 should doubt on the content of it..

secondly, i gave same company's modem but its type 1 and i had downloaded the readme file from the same website (of course downloading link was different for my model).

so why raising questions on link to this file???

    @mickeyandamir
    Read my post in full.
Thread starter has said he is getting connected in LAN mode ( rj45)
    & wanted wifi mode settings.
Now as per your guidance of Shri Meetdilip and Shri Essbebe, I am able to connect my desk top to this modem....
The link you gave ( probably without reading ) does not contain wifi instructions for ZTE531B. ( just read the title may be )
    http://www.rajasthan.bsnl.co.in:8080...1__TYPE-2_.doc

I knew about this link and did not give this. here.

So I meant. you have not READ the full thread.

Nowhere the authenticity of the Rajasthan link has been questioned !

    Para two:
I have reproduced the "DOC" almost three years back in this forum !!!
9th November 2008 to be exact.
Added Gujarat link also probably for WIFI ( not available now )

    Dear Sir(s),

As per the post No.#8, Shri Essbebe become annoyed. So I express my Sorry feeling for the same. I will try that all the said mistakes will not be repeated.
Here is the feedback as asked by essbebe as an attachment.

Still I am not able to connect my laptop wirelessly.
Desk top has Win XP SP3 and laptop has Win 7.

Earlier with my old modem, which has only one LAN port, I use to keep one long LAN wire. I remove the desktop LAN wire from modem and connect this long LAN wire to modem and my lap top when I wanted to use laptop on net.

After that I have used one such type of modem (type 2) (But not ZTE) for a week on trial basis and it was giving fine result to desk top and wirelessly to lap top. I learned to configure the said trial modem from this site / forum only. Using after a week I have returned this trial modem.

After two and half months Now i got an opportunity to buy such type of old modem (ZTE - Second hand - Used) as described above at post #1.

I did all the things as described by Shri meetdilip and Shri essbebe, but no result.

I phoned some body who knows little more then me, he told that I have to change IP address to laptop. Is it true ?
I did not done these earlier when i used the trial modem.
Thus I decided that If essbebe or meetdilip suggest the same then only i will change IP address at lap top.

    My quires are....
    a) Is I have to change IP address at lap top (Not done while using trial modem)
    b) Can I insert LAN wire from desk top to any four LAN ports of modem
    for net use.
    c) when net is ON at desk top, can i insert another LAN long wire at another slot of LAN at modem and connect the lap to it. Thus can both desk top and lap top can use net simultaneously if connected through LAN wire.(No wireless business)
    d) when i put on wifi switch ON at lap top, it detect the BSNL connection and asking PW/Security code also. After providing these, near watch it shows no INTERNET access with exclamation mark.

Please try to solve my problem, and after this i will ask how to connect my mobile through wi fi.

It is clear that I will learn only from this forum for my wi fi connection to lap top and after that with my mobile. I am not going to listen anybody other then this forum to solve my problem. If i request expert, he will do in moment but in this case i will not learn any thing and most important thing i will not have the feeling about I DID IT......... This feelings gives me lot of pleasure....so i will learn from this forum only......

Many of my problem solved by the experts of this forum.....hats off for their knlowedge...

    Thanks and Regards....

Remove encryption, MAC filter (if set) and try.

If you can connect to laptop, you can do the same with mobile without any extra settings (provided phone settings are proper)

    1. Remove encryption and check.

    2. Enable DHCP in your modem ( Advanced set up > LAN).

    3. In the TCP/IP properties of your connection, set " Obtain IP address automatically " and check.
