Thread: How to share internet connection using UT300R2U router

Hi guys,

i want to connect my laptop and smart tv to internet.
i have UT300R2U Type 1 modem provided by BSNL (i took this as Type II is not available with them).

What i am thinking is to buy Ethernet hub through which i will connect my laptop and smart tv (internet connection sharing)?

Will this work? please let me know. Also let me know if any other low cost solutions are there.

Configure your modem in PPPoE mode, buy a switch, connect the ethernet cable from modem to switch. Now take three connections from switch and connect it to your machines.

Or you can buy a WiFi router from Netgear, Linksys or any other of your choice from open market and connect it to your modem.

Or if you have Windows 7 Home Premium or above you can try " Connecitfy " in your laptop and make it a WiFi hotspot. You can buy a USB WiFi adapter for around Rs. 900 and use it on your desktop to connect through WiFi just like laptop.

it is not IPTV, it has DLNA feature which i want to use (LG 32LV3730 model).
i am thinking to run media server on my laptop and access the files on TV.
