Default Multiple Internet Connections from Same Modem

Hi All

I am Dr Kukreja from Ahmedabad

I have a unlimited braodband connection from BSNL Data One

And a wireless modem Smart AX MT 841 from Huwaei

My clinic and my residence are around 100 meters apart with apparently same height buildings in between

My internet connection is installed at my residence and I am able to use Lan as well as wireless internet at the residence

I tried using wireless at the clinic but had no result so I used an overhead cat5 cable and attached it to second Lan port on the modem and I was able to use net at the clinic also

Now I have installed another computer at the chamber on first floor also , I tried using a Lan splitter and tried connecting both computers to net , but unfortunately am not able to do so ?

If I use either of the computer one at a time I am able to connect them to the net individually but if I try connecting both at the same time I am not able to do so

Is there any solution to this issue ?

Can I use a router or access point at clinic and connect both the computers with wireless lan car to net simultaneoulsy ?

Can I use a hub and connect both PCs to net simultaneously ?

Any other solution ?

How many computers can I connect to the modem with Lan simultaneously and How many with wireless simultaneously ?

Thanking You In Anticipation
Regards
Dr Kukreja

Dr. Kukreja, A wireless modem usually can allow 50 simultaneous connections. You will of course realize that all 50 connections will share the total bandwidth available.

You can attach another wireless router at your clinic to the cable running from your home. But you must set the IP address of the clinic router to a different range. For example if the IP address of your home wireless router is 192.168.1.1, then your clinic wireless router should be set to 192.168.2.1.

Also do not forget to enable WEP or WPA encryption on your wireless network.

Rgds,
j4x.

You mean that you are using the same connection 100 Meters apart? Then it might be a slower connection and also the speed may vary too much.

In MT841 there is a provision for 4 LAN Ports and 1 USB Ports simultaneously to the internet.
