    Default ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII not working after firmware upgrade

    I recently upgraded the firmware of my ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII modem. Immediately after that modem stopped working in PPoE mode and Windows gave error code 651. Though when i changed the PPoE to bridge mode in Internet configuration it started working. Any idea where it went wrong??

    Are you using Windows 7 OS ?
    Creat new network connection for "Always On" PPPoE mode.

    check this blog. confirm menu pages appear similar.

    is it so that after every power on (or reboot to save settings in PPPOE mode) of your modem, it gets to factory reset...when in PPPOE mode but works fine when config to bridge mode????

    once i faced the same issue with same modem, i got it rectified after fresh OS and LAN drivers installation.

    to find this out, try your modem in pppoe mode on your friend's pc with his username and password and if it works fine there, then get ur pc a fresh install of OS and lan drivers.

    Default Solved

    SOLVED::

    It's working in PPPoE (Always ON) mode. I was using dialer in PPPoE mode which returned the error 651. Though there was no need to use the dialer, it was already working without dialer. The dialer is for Bridge mode..

    In "Bridged" mode all ports are open. ( Use Antivirus Firewall applications)
    Preferred for auto scheduling NU auto downloads 0200AM to 0800AM.
    Control misuse, by restricting access to all.

    In PPPoE mode, when we need H24 connectivity, modem is always connected. ( also have AV And Firewall in use )
    ( for instance my VOIP phone is always connected in this mode . computer can be switched off )
    Special facility to Portforward to specific web sites. for faster download/s.
    Hosting your own webserver/website.

    When we use more than one system PPPoE mode with DHCP enabled is required.( example another laptop cellphone etc )
