Thread: modem not working

it's been 3 years for this modem,now lights won't turn on.
it's basic wired modem from bsnl,
Rs.50 as rent was charged for many months but it's not being charged for a few months..current plan(haryana) is ULD 1350,so i kinda have a feeling it's my property now-not sure though
if somehow it's still rented,then will they replace it for free?
will they replace it for free if it's mine now(nonsense though)?
what's the cost of new?
i'm living in a town,do they have these modems in local exchanges generally?
how many time do they generally take?

1. Reset the modem and check.

2. See if power adapter is faulty.

3. If you are longer paying rent, you are not entitled for replacement ( that is what I was told, try your luck).

4. BSNL no longer supplies modems in many circles. You need to buy from open market. Price range from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,500. Better buy a WiFi enabled modem as it is WiFi era. You can use it later if you have a WiFi enabled mobile phone or laptop / tablet.

5. Go to any shop that supplies modem and ask for a modem that works with BSNL. Try brands like Belkin, DLink, Linksys, Netgear etc. You can also try buying online.

According to various reports, BSNL has stopped supplying modems. Please check at your exchange (may be a phone call will do) and update the same.

Yes, but it's still supplying type B1/B2 in some areas.So, let the person check whether it's available or not in his/her area.There is a chance that he/she may get it from BSNL itself.

Nice. The point of concern is that if it fails within one year (can happen with BSNL modems), he will be at loss as BSNL won't be having other modems to replace the damaged ones. May be they are just clearing the stock.

i checked adapter of modem with my friend's and adapter is faulty
kinda don't wanna take it from bsnl,so,according to the rating of voltage on adapter,where can i buy a compatible one online?
we don't have networking equipment shops in my area

Mention modem/router model/make/number.
Mention the DC or ACoutput marked on the adapter.
Take it to an electrical/computer shop and try for a replacement.
or try repair in Radio/TV mechanic shop.
