Issue (1) solved ? Ignore my comment on dialer mode.

You can PM me the device info page (where you can see the LHS menu of modem). Or blank all those details (except contents of LHS menu) and then post the screen shot. In the wireless security page instead of " open ", use the drop down menu in the same box and change it to WPA2. Once you select it, you will get an option to enter the password.

More details after the screen shot.

Verify your settings using these links. Make sure they are proper (different modem with similar interface)

If your WiFi settings are proper, you will be able to access net on laptops and other WiFi devices without any problem. If still facing any issue, refer this guide

done. So laptop device done. Didnt find much problem here as just clicked on the connection tab which already had identified/traced the wi-fi connection. So it just asked for the security code and it was done after that.

Tried to find the same tab in the cell device but couldnt locate anywhere. Is the setup procedure in the mobile different from the lappy one?

Also, what is the range of this wi-fi. Any idea? Although I know I can restrict its use by MAC filetring, but still I want to know does it cover entire building?

Default Data rate must be 4096

You will never get 4mbps speed with data rate of 2048.
Data rate of your connection in your exchange must be 4096 to give you total speed of 4 mbps. So take the print out of your data rate snapshot and give to ur sde. and problem will be solved.

Is it because that I have crossed the limit of 8GB that I am getting this data rate? I have 900 UL plan.

@ dilip........I have located the connectivity in the cell. Just range query remains.

It will be less than 10 M. Use your cell phone, move farther from modem and see up to which point you are getting the signal. That will be the best way to find out. You can use the same with laptop.

Were you getting 4 Mbps when you were within 8 GB limit ?

I didnt know abt this 4mbps before. So dont know whther it was thr before i crossed 8 gb limit. But today being a new month, I just tested the speed on speedtest.net and its showing the following result:

    Download speed : 2.65 Mbps
    Upload speed : 0.38 Mbps

but the data rate is same as before.

Talk to the SDE, it can be fixed in a few minute's time. Why go with 2 Mbps when you are eligible for 4 Mbps. This may help

http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ly-2-mbps.html (4 Mbps connection, but getting only 2 Mbps)

Can you update the range of your modem (if you have already checked using mobile / laptop) ?

@ Dilip......I am following my usage this month through bandwidth meter. As per the meter it is 3333 MB and usage as per BSNLs database is 4014 MB.
What is the implication of this difference?

Do you have any LAN data transfer of files ? Hope you installed both Networx and Shaplus, what does it show ? It is always wise to use more than one bandwidth meter.

Most bandwidth meters has an error range of +/- 50 MB. What is shown in BSNL portal is final and will be used for billing. So please compare values are regular intervals with portal.

I didnt do any LAN data transfer of files.
The meter which I mentioned is of shaplus. From next month onwards I will track it on both the meters.
But here the difference is not of only 50 MB, its arnd 700 MB. Knowing that whatever shown on the portal will be used finally for billing, still is there any course of action I can take?

Check Shaplus settings and see which adapters are monitored. Make sure only the ones you use are selected. You can see it from the settings.

I checked it. Under 'Netwrok Interfaces' its showing only 'Intel 82566DC Gigabit network connection- packet scheduler.... '. Now where to check this in my PC?

hmm, adapter settings seems to be in order. May be there was some spike which got recorded. Shaplus is very accurate. I have used it myself for a long time and is widely used. Better use Networx in tandem.
