Default Modem connctvty range !!! HELP !!

    Hello everyone ,
I am thinking of getting a wireless modem router of D-link company (which would cost me around 2100). But, I do not have any idea about the model specifications and if there are any better options available for the same.

So , I would like you all to advise me on two things :-

    1) What would the modem's connectivity range ? ( Maximum /Minimum )
    2) Will i get a lower download speed than that of broadband wired ?

(1)Mention the Radius of Activity for wifi ( also height first floor 4th floor etc )
Buy a unit with two antennas and if possible detachable.
Minimum/max limit usually 20 to 30 feet. 100 feet has been claimed .

    (2) download speed : with home plans , will not change much . for a single system.

What if more than one user tries to download a single file at the same time?Is the numbers of users indirectly proportional to the download speed ?

Yes, suppose you have 1 Mbps speed and two users are downloading files at the same time, the speed will be divided between them. Both can download at the same time, but the total bandwidth remains 1 Mbps.
