Default Wifi setup on external wifi router

    Hi,

I have a BSNL Broadband connection with my own iBAll Baton ADSL router (Model: iB-LR6111A). It works fine with the regular cat wire connected to my Sony VAio Laptop.

I want to set up the wifi router now (another external one with me). The wifi router is Belkin (Model: F7D1301 v1).

BSNL tech support was not of much use in this regard as they had no idea of how to set this thing up.

I tried to connect my Baton router with the Belkin wifi router but they didn't get in sync. Meaning the wifi router didn't receive any signal.

If anyone can help that would be helpful.

    Hi essbebe,

Thanks for the steps. I may need a little more help here. I am a naive user.

How would you change the mode for the router?
    How to enable DHCP?
    How to Enable UpNP?

For Belkin, I do not have any quick start or UI facily (at-least I am not aware of one yet). More help would be highly appreciated.

Check the link given for screen shots.
    or Beetel110TCI

open 192.168.1.1 Id admin PW admin ( or password)
Assuming you are now in "1483 Bridging mode"

(Are you using a dialer and entering ID/PW in system to connect ?)
select VCO2 VPi VCI 0 and 35 change to PPPoE
next enter your ID PW etc DHCP enabled 192.168.1.2
enable UPNP in access control menu. ( recheck )
    screen shots should help.

    Belkins:
    Download manual only 30 pages..
else you have to post as screen shot all pages for me to make entries !!!!!!
    or
    Check your Ip now
    http://whatismyipaddress.com
post it here. Or send PM ( Private message )
(and later delete it).I will access your modem to change the settings.
will wait till 0105 AM. Feedback

For some reason http : // 192.168.1.1 isn't opening anything. Although this is what is the default setting for my router (according to the information at the back of it).

    Any idea?

Yes I use a dialer for entering the username and pass.

Tried my own IP address in the browser as well but nothing opened and the status remains the same as that for 192.168.1.1

I tried to reset the router but nothing changed.

I tried to change the IP info but I am getting only one option instead of three that you have mentioned

I get the option to enter the IP address but nothing else.

See the attached file. So still stuck at the same problem.

that is normal since you use a Dialer in your computer.
Create a new network in computer say "Always ON"
    2.
select VCO2 VPi VCI 0 and 35 change to PPPoE
next enter your ID PW etc DHCP enabled 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10
enable UPNP in access control menu.
    feedback.

Ok, So I had tried to change just the IP address before but that didn;t work for me.

And I have no idea about what is VCO2 VPi VCI 0 and 35
    DHCP enabled 192.168.1.2

I am sorry for all this trouble but this is how things are on my laptop.

If I change the IP I can neither connect to the internet nor can I see the admin page for the router.

You cannot use "Dialer" mode to connect a wifi router.
You cannot access modem settings Of your adsl modem.
192.168.1.1 does not open to access modem settings.
You cannot make a New network settings in your computer for PPPoE mode.

IF RESET the modem to factory settings .
    Internet connection will be lost.
    Para two:

    Last attempt:
When connected to Internet , and you can surf
    type http://whatismyipaddress.com
    say 117.23.34.56 EXAMPLE
retype it in address bar again
    Modem acccess window may open.
    ID admin PW admin

Take assistance of a friend , familiar with internet Broadband connections.
