Thread: wireless issue

hi i have a teracom T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI modem. previously it's working fine but from 1 month i have a problem with wifi. Now its range is too low. i cant get a signal in the next room (previously i was able to). so i started playing with internal options of wireless and i found a thing - if i set TxPower to 100% i am able to see network signal in next room. By default it is set 20%.



But i am afraid because someone told me that it will fry your wireless radio of router. I want to know that setting it to 100% is safe or not??

Try to position the WIFI router at a higher height,and for "line of Sight" to other room. Position near a window.
Or place the route in the table with Antenna parallel to the ground and rotate for max bars in other room laptop.

Use reduced Power. for above. test.

100% Power is barely 20 mW I think. ( to be verified )
Check whether gets too hot! Slight quick touch with tip of finger !
Don't get burnt !!!
If the antenna is detachable you can consider adding a 4 dBi antenna
and keep power low.

Also check in laptop. WLAN card properties.
Any driver upgrade possible ?

I have positioned a SMC wifi router in the hall ( table height 3 feet )
and reception is possible in front room blocked by two walls
Distance approx 20 feet. ( ground floor )

4. You can also try making a WiFi booster (normally a panel coated with aluminium foil or similar). Search Google for DIY guides. It is very cheap and easy to make one. I think this forum itself has one guide.
