Thread: What is meant by "4 mbps upto 8gb and 256 kbps after 8gb?"

I want to take a new broadband connection. i'm in vijayawada, Andhra pradesh. I checked in the bsnl website. I saw a unlimited plan for 950/- per month. but its saying that the bandwidth is "4 Mbps upto 8 GB, 256 Kbps beyond 8 GB". what is this? they are talking about the download limit or the browsing limit? if 8 gb is the download limit, that won't be sufficient for me and there is no point in them providing an unlimited internet connection. But if its the browsing limit, its mor than enough. i'm pretty confused. is this a good plan or not. i download a lot. please help me out.

Select this plan Home 750 speed upto 512Kbps.
No download limit U/l usage.H24.
If not satisfied you can change to ther tariff plan/s after a month.

Surfing also counted u/l d/l and application downloads/viewing You tube Videos etc.
You can reach the 8GB limit within a day also at 4 Mbps speed!! Then you have a slow connection at 256Kbps speed !

4 mbps 512KB/sec 30MB/min 1.8GB one hour
512Kbps 64KB/sec 3.6MB/min 200 MB one hour
256Kbps 32KB/sec 1.8MB/min 100MB/hour

It is the total FUP limit. ie, it includes download + upload + browsing. When it reaches 8 GB, speed will dip to 256 Kbps. Good for those who do not use much. Me on UL 750, gives 512 Kbps unlimited all the time. No FUP. In my opinion, the best plan for domestic user who download a lot. Or choose Home 500 combo or Home 600 Combo. It has 2 Mbps night unlimited, but day time limit is 1.5 GB and 2.5 GB respectively.
