Default bsnl broadband problem in mac os x

okay so this thing is really bothering me a lot lately.
I'm on BSNL broadband 750 home plan. my system is a macbook pro running on OS X 10.6.8
i don't understand much of the technicalities, but with the vendors help I was able to setup the airport, and connect to the internet through the wireless. my vendor gave me some values to put manually into the TCP/IP section and the DNS section too, with which my broadband was running just fine.
Then I had to take the laptop out of station for a while, and I started using a USB modem of micromax with a data card based connection from Uninor. That also ran okay. but after I was back home, my broadband flatly refused to connect. I tried everything including uninstalling the USB modem software and setting up new connection, but nothing seems to work. So right now I'm using the datacard internet.
    Things I tried:
I tried installing a connection from a 'new location'. for configuring the airport I tried putting those values my vendor gave me, and the airport showed green signal(as in connected). i tried connecting using DHCP also, but that only showed a yellow signal for airport saying 'self-assigned ip'.
so while the airport is still in 'connected' mode(green) i tried creating a new PPPoE service. tried putting in all the similar values here too, then when i try to connect, it just tries for a long time finally to return a window saying could not find a PPPoE server.
I don't have any idea about these technical things, so I'm sure I must be doing something wrong....but what is it? anyone? pls help....!

Mention model/make/number of your wifi router.
    Your ISP.
Do you connect to Internet by using a dialer ?

As in Windows OS "System Restore Point" to an earlier date
Do you have a System Restore option in your laptop ?

Presume the settings in Wifi router were not changed.

    1. What is your modem mode ? PPPoE or Bridge ? ie, do you use a dialer to connect ? Is the ID and password stored in the dialer ? If yes, try PPPoE mode and check.

Mention your modem's model and make, we can try find a guide for you.

or check this link and see if your modem is listed here. If yes, try multi user configuration guide. It is OS independent.

    2. Try the following values in TCP/IP properties

    IP address : 192.168.1.2

    Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0

    Default gateway : 192.168.1.1
