Default Port forwarding in BSNL Teracom

    Hi,

I have Teracom router and want to access Apache page running on my server from the internet. I am able to access the page in the intranet, but when I access the same from the internet I get the router configuration page. Though I get dynamic ip, I check the page with the correct dynamic ip displayed by whatismyip.com

Attaching the router port forwarding page which I have configured.

    Does BSNL block port forwarding?

Check whether DDNS option available in this modem ?
Your Dynamic IP changes everytime you connect to Internet.

Bsnl does not block any port.

Its not an issue with dynamic ip because every time I try this, I get my current ip with whatismyip.com . Otherwise I would not be redirected to my modem configuration page from the internet,

    To do

    1. Configure a static internal IP, say 192.168.1.25.

    2. Try this guide from portforward.com (explained with screen shots).

Port Forwarding for the Nokia Siemens C2110 - PortForward.com

It shows Nokia Siemens C 2110, but has similar interface as Teracom modems supplied by BSNL.

Please note that this is a generic guide and you need to be sure about the port you are going to select.

    1. The server does have static ip.
    2. I hav
I set up DMZ server as per the attachment as I needed all the ports to be accessible from the internet. I disabled port filtering and yet there is no improvement. The status is the same. I can see only router page from the internet and not the Apache page running on the server.

I have done that giving static ip as DMZ host ip with the same result. Please see attachment. Along with this step, what else is needed?

I am seeing router config page when I give the external ip which is 59.95.28.107 in browser
which is . . Whereas if I give 192.168.1.2 in browser I see the Apache page.

I hope it is not blocked by BSNL.

    As suggested by a friend

ask him to enter his IP ( which he says is static and not 192.168.1.2 ) or get another modem with DDNS so that dynamic Ip can be
    changed to dyndns adddress .
You can also give a try on No-IP or Dyndns (Google the same) and check.

I was using dyndns. But the dyndns client was on my sever and it mapped the dynamic ip to the domain name. It stopped working hence I changed the router which did not help.

When I say that I have fixed ip , I meant that my server always has the fixed inernal ip og 192.168.1.2. And even if my ext ip to the router changes, I always use the current ip while trying to access the Apache page. This problem is differet from the dyndns in my opinion. Once I get the Apache page from the internet my problem will be over.

And getting a fixed ip plan from BSNL is costlier, hence I want to try it with my present set up. Already I changed my working router hoping that it may work.

Has anybody done port forwarding or dmz host successfully on BSNL?
Is there any way of checking if BSNL is blocking this activity?

Default DMZ host or port forward both not working

If I allow my friends to access my web server the address they will use will be //59.x.x.x. But they see the router page.

I tried to put the DMZ host address as 59.x.x.x in the router configuration but it gave error. webserver: Error adding NAT reserved mapping pool pppoE-996083610 . This was suggested by Dilip. I guess we can add only the 192.x.x.x id as the DMZ host.

Either I have to port forward, or declare a DMZ host. Either way it will server my purpose. I have tried both without any luck.

hmm, it seems there's been a miscommunication. I suggested using internal static IP of your server /PC in which the site is hosted. Try 192.168.1.25 (after assigning it to the server in LAN adapter) and check.

My server pc has got 192.168.1.2 which I had already put as the DMZ host and I had attached the screen shot. Since it did not work, I thought you wanted me to try the ext ip as DMZ host.

    I am feeling lost.

The DMZ host feature allows one local host to be exposed to the Internet for a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or videoconferencing. DMZ host forwards packets of all services.

Any PC that is set to be DMZ host must have its DHCP client function disabled
and should have a new static IP address assigned to it because its IP Address may change when using the DHCP function.

To assign a computer or server to be a DMZ server:

    Click the Enable button.
Enter the IP address of a local PC that is set to be DMZ host in the DMZ Host IP Address field.
    Click the Save button.

Note: After you set the DMZ host, the firewall related to the IP address will not work.

My sever always has 192.168.1.2 as the ip. From the router the internal ip is always same but the ext ip I get from bsnl is dynamic.

I need to find out how to test if the port forwarding or DMZ is working or not. Havent found it as yet.

Dhcp disabled in LAN page of modem ??
    192.168.1.2
the ip address entered in network settings
    of LAN/wlan TCP/IP properties ? ( wlan 192.168.1.3.)

Select the DISCARD button in DHCP configuration.
( meaning only the two applications entered in the TABle will be forwarded to 192.168.1.2 entered in DMZ )

    ( Feedback on this ).

Though DHCP is enabled in the router, I am always getting the same 192. series ip addresses for all my machines in the lan. So if I disable dhcp , then I have to set up Linux and WIndows boz\xes with the ip. I do not want to disturb the working set up.. And anyway the 192.x.x.x ips of the lan servers arent changing. I can also telnet to the router from the 58.xx.x external ip assigned by BSNL. Since It is DMZ host and port 22 is forwarded, I shoud have seen the server telnet prompt.

    Didnt understand the 192.168.1.3 reference.

If by disabling more problems arise report and revert back to original DHCP enabled !
    Usually:
wan 192.168.1.3 will be the IP address for WAN mode.
    192.168.1.2 for Lan mode
    192.168.1.1 for modem/router access etc.

What was the effect when "Discard" was selected ?
    Check Ip filter is disabled.
    Also firewall settings.
    Checkin Windows services ::HTTP
    telnet appears selected.
    try port 8080.

If problem solved by you , please give feedback
to help another user now. ( Using Dyndns type for web server) Thanks.

I disabled DHCp, rebooted router and wasnt able to access the router config http page because the XP didnt have any ip address. Fortunately my Linux server didnt loose its ip and hence I was able to login to the router from Linux. Meaning if somebody has windows box and doesnt know how to configure network, he will be struck if he disables DHCP.

And my Apache server is running on Linux at 192.168.1.2 . Its not LAN address. I count see the 192.68.1.3 address at all.

The problem is not solved, If I get the solution, I will share it.

Thats a very good suggestion Thank you.

    .
Its dangerous to disable DHCP on router if you dont know how to assign ip to your XP machine manually. Because XP will loose ip when the router is rebooted after disabling DHCP and hence can not even login to router configuration page!!

    Model Name T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI

My server isnt Windows it is Linux.
Also when I check on the LAN Apache is running on port 80 not 8080.
There is no discard option in DHCP page

I have good knowledege on Linux and if you and other members have good knowlededge on routers and networking, we should be able to crack this.

The problem looks to be the same as mine. He sees the router page and not the Apache page. As suggested by Dilip in this thread, I dont want to host only the Apache server but my full computer which will have different ports like 80, 22 , 20 etc and all these shhould be accessilbe from the internet.

User Using No-IP and has a web site name now.

Please see the attachment. The page says allow deny access. I dont understand it. My router has 59.x.x.x ip.

Lastly I thank you very much for the help I have received so far. Leave apart that we havent cracked it yet, but I do really appreciate your untiring and quick responses.
