I am using the same modem. Have successfully connected my 2 systems running on XP without WiFi.

Please mention the mode of connection used now. How do you connect to internet ?

    a. Do you click on the " Connect " button of a dialer in which ID and password is stored ?

    or

    b. Can you connect to net just by switching ON the modem ?

If (a), you are in dialer / Bridge mode. You need to switch to PPPoE (Always ON) mode before you can connect more than one system at the same time. Use this guide

    New Page 1

If (b), simply get another ethernet cable from a shop and insert it into a spare LAN port in the modem. Connect the other end to the ethernet /LAN port of your second desktop. You are ready to go.

    To do

    1. Make sure that you enable DHCP in modem.

    2. Set obtain IP address automatically in TCP/IP properties of LAN card (of both systems).
