Thread: Unable to open websites/webpages

Hello friends.

I have BSNL DataOne Broadband Connection ,through UTSTARCOM WA3002-g1 Type-II modem.
Previously for the past two years I had BBG FN Home Combo 600 Plan,where everything was O.K.

But since September 2011,when I've changed to ULD 900(UNLIMITED WITH HOME COMBO)Plan,problems start to crop up:
seagate.com;
newegg.com;
coolermaster.com;
indianrail.gov.in;
lenovo.com;
lynx-india.com,etc. some websites/pages have become unaccessible.I can not open those sites.

But I could,successfully open other sites,surf into them,download in MB/GB(large quantity) of Free and open source software at ease.

Please,Help me.

1. Try Turbo mode in Opera. It opens such sites.

2. Change MTU. Try values 1480, 1490, additions of 10 till you get the result. Hope you understand that this is a trial and error method and patience is a must.

^^ I had tried with Opera Turbo Mode,but in vain.
I have Opera(11.51) installed in both Windows and Linux systems(With Turbo Mode enabled) but nothing seems to work.

The diagnostic test report of WA3002-g1 shows as:

Virtual Circuit : PVC0
>> Testing Ethernet Lan connection ... PASS
>> Testing ADSL Synchronization . PASS
>> Testing ATM OAM segment ping ... FAIL
>> Testing ATM OAM end to end ping ... FAIL
>> Ping Primary Domain name Server . PASS
>> Ping yahoo.com ... PASS

When I had BBG FN Home combo 600 Plan previously, all the Test results showed as "PASS".

I have done this:
TCP MTU Option:TCP MTU(0:default) 1452 bytes

Problem persists.


Also, according to your suggestions given on the thread I did follow, and see the results:

C:\Windows\System32> ping bbc.co.uk -f -l 1450

Try pinging bbc with different MTU values..Lowering MTU values worked wonders for me and solved the problem i had while opening websites.

Also try using open DNS - 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
