Default Using two BSNL connections on the same PC at different times

    Hi,

I have a BSNL Home 500 plan with 2mbps speed.
Now, I plan to get another BSNL connection 750UL unlimited one.

I plan to use the unlimited one for day browsing and with wireless devices by configuring the modem in PPPoE mode. And the night unlimited one for downloading during night time using Bridge mode.

Is it possible to do this?
Also, if both the connections are active during night time, I want the 2mbps one to be used. How can I ensure this?

    Not possible.
Get a different BB connection from another ISP and use same modem. ( say airtel vpi/vci 1 and 32) change rj11 to modem )

Modem will not accept duplicate PVC which for
    BSNL:VPI/ VCI 0 and 35.

Your BSNL Telephone numbers /USERID/PW will be different.
You can try BSNL prepaid tariff plans. for same telephone number.

I plan to get a separate modem for the second connection. Is it not possible even with two different modems?

If you plan to procure another modem/router as well with your new connection, it is possible.
If you plan to use the same modem for both lines, you have to connect the reqired telephone line and change the username/password every time you want to connect (for PPPoE connections)
If you want to use "bridge mode" for both connections, only one modem would suffice in which case you have to connect the required telephone line to the modem. In "bridge mode" only one device can connect at a time....

@basant,2 different plans means 2 different telephone lines so 2 modems must unless you manually want to swap telephone lines each time.

    option 1:
if your PC has 2 LAN ports(if not then get a LAN card for ~150-200)configure each modem in bridge mode.create 2 dialer for each plan.in daytime dial unlimited one.in night use 2mbps one.though one thing i am not sure about is how windows deals with dialing a connection if there are 2 simultaneously active LAN connections.

    option 2:
use 2 modems with 2 LAN ports but use a virtual machine software like vmware to create a virtual xp/win7 & assign 1 modem/LAN port exclusively to this virtual machine.

Read carefully the reply and then ask doubts.
BSNL will not allow two different userID/PW for two different
Tariff Plans for a [SINGLE telephone connection.

You can use a single modem in Dialer mode ( userID/PW entered in System window ) but change the telephone line. for two different numbers.

I want to configure the unlimited connection in PPPoE mode, so that I can connect multiple devices (PC, phones, tablets etc.). That's why I'm getting second connection and will buy a new modem.
Now the only question remains is that how do I connect to night unlimited connection at night without turning off the second modem having the unlimited connection.

    1. Mention modem - model and make (the one you are planning to use with Unlimited connection)

If you connect more than one line to one PC (through two ethernet card or one ethernet card and one WiFi), you may get IP conflict error. You will need to configure IP manually which may hinder WiFi

    Possible options :

    Get 2 lines, 2 modems,

    1. Use one at a time. Simply plug in the correct ethernet cable to your only LAN card.

    2. Get 2 LAN cards, use a software called Forcebind IP. It allows you to select different connections for different apps. You should configure IP manually every time at night and may not be able to use WiFi at this time. But you can use UL plan for other apps till 2 am.

    3. Use 2 LAN cards, reconfigure UL modem in bridge every night before you sleep and set a bat file to terminate the dialer at 1.55 am. NU plan too on bridge mode and set a bat file to activate the dialer by 2.05 am.

I will be buying a DSL router either D-Link or Netgear. And for PC, I plan to purchase a wireless LAN card.

I did not understand how I may get an IP conflict error, BSNL uses dynamic IPaddresses. Right? So won't both connections have separate IP addresses.

Just to make it clear, by getting a new connection I mean a new telephone connection along with broadband.

A prepaid BB connection can be used in in your present SINGLE
    Telephone connection. with SINGLE modem.
    http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/prepaid_BB.htm
[ present Post paid plan also can be used ]

Also can be used ANYWHERE In India with BSNL Landline (BB facility )
Similar to Sancharnet Internet connection at 56 Kbps speed !!!

Ok. Which one do you have now ?

It is the internal IP that will conflict. Tried on my laptop using WiFi and ethernet at the same time.

Now the only question remains is that how do I connect to night unlimited connection at night without turning off the second modem having the unlimited connection.
simplest & most probably the only way to do this without a load balancing router is configure the 500plan modem in bridge mode.connect that modem to 2nd lan port.create a virtual XP installation using vmware.set virtual machine to connect to 2nd LAN port.create dialer in virtual XP.install utorrent/download manager etc in virtual XP & use batch file to auto dial the 500plan connection at 2:05AM & disconnect at 7:55AM.your unlimited connection will be working as usual on your real XP/win7 install using 1st LAN port while 500 plan will only work inside the virtual machine using your 2nd LAN port.

    Two adsl modem+4lanport+wifi router connections

for two different BB connections in a Single computer
    in wifi mode. Good idea.
Two ssid's will appear when both units are on.

Fixing a wlan PCI card in Desktop good option.

Please mention present modem route used model/number.
( check WDS mode for increased wifi Range. same two models
suggested No cable connection between them )

@essbebe: I did not understand exactly what you are trying to say, I'm a software guy and don't know much about networking. Can you please elaborate a bit.

Also, if I switch off the modem with unlimited connection at night, then the otehr connection will work fine. right?

two active internet connections in a PC at same time is not a good idea for downloading.as i understands @coolkulbhushan is mainly interested in utilizing the free 2-8AM slot of 500 plan.my earlier virtual machine suggestion is ideal for this scenario because 500plan connection will behave in an independent manner with no problems in downloading.also only extra hardware needed is a LAN card besides the 2 modems.

please see this. select which ever connection you want.
( Single computer desktop/laptop in wifi mode )

No need to switch Off either modem+wifi router.
    No cable changes.

let me make this clear to you.whether using bridging or as @meetdilip suggested using wifi for 2nd connection if you have 2 active simultaneous net connections you:
1.can not download from free file hosting services like filesonic, megaupload etc
    2.can not use private torrents.
3.can not download from any site which requires single/constant IP like premium membership of rapidshare, megaupload etc.

only download you can do is public torrents & downloads from sites like microsoft.

P.S.seems like you have ignored all my previous posts(aka no feedback) so this is my last post in this thread.

I'm sorry if I have offended you, I did not ignore any of your posts. Till now, the VM option has made the most sense to me, but I just wanted to see if something else can work.
