Thread: Connection drops too often on Teracom wifi modem.

Hi,

15days back I bought a BSNL Teracome wifi modem for my home. And since that day i have noticed that the internet connection drops atleast 5 - 6 times in a day. I have a ZTE LAN modem at home so I decided to check the internet with that and it worked perfectly, although the connection dropped in that too but just once in a day. I have set the wifi modem as always on and everytime the connection drops i can see on the modem that the (internet one) red light gets on which is usually green when the net is working fine. I have also noticed that if this green light flickers too often even i m not downloading it is about to get DC and it does sometimes. Even if it doesnt, the net speed drops down.

Is there anything i need to do with the settings ??

Both units Teracom WIfi router (AR800V3) and (ZTE831AII) adsl modem (less wifi)
can be having same menu pages. confirm.

If frequent "dc" in wifi mode

change to Channel 11.

check max power output is selected in wifi page. .

if also in LAN mode Select Mod mode ADSL2 or GMT ( may not work for BSNL )

compare snr/attn values of both units.

Check WLAN ethernet card settings. Update drivers etc.

Feedback.

1. Back up the settings, reset the modem and reconfigure it (don't restore) and check.

2. Do you face disconnection in both WiFi and ethernet modes ?

3. If only for WiFi, check when the laptop / WiFi device is closer to the modem (use in same room) and check.
