    Default Multiple Problems with DataOne

I have some problems with my DataOne and BSNL portal. I hope someone could shed some light.

I did go through lots of thread here, lots of good info, but none of those solving my problem.

    Info:
    I am in Jaipur, Rajasthan
Using BSNL DataOne Combo 900+ (BSNL provided free Wifi Modem)
    IP address starting with 117.xxx.xxx.xx

    Problems:
    1. Cannot log in on dataone dot in - I tried to log in so many times using the user id and password provided by BSNL. Always came back with Invalid username or password. Not that I want to use Dataone mail, it just bothered me that I cannot log in and that I cannot change the password.
    2. cannot log in on Selfcare portal: Registered myself on the portal. I received the password by email. When I tried to log in, the site redirected to selfcare dot ndc dot bsnl dot co dot in/irjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjirjir jirjirjirjirjselfcare -then goes blank. Tried again with selfcare dot ndc dot bsnl dot co dot in, which came back with Invalid user ID or password.
    3. Cannot use the Wifi on some computer - Some computer/laptop cannot get internet when I use Wifi Modem provided by BSNL (AR 800 V v3.0). I tried using Huawei Smart AX MT880 and NetGear (not sure of the exact model number) as suggested in www dot indiabroadband dot net/bsnl-broadband/127-making-bsnl-dataone-wireless-home-network-guide dot html - I got everything sorted except when it comes to configuring the Netgear. What confused me in the guide given in the link above is that
2)Configuring the Wireless Router and enabling the WPA security
·Connect the network cable from the NetGear wireless router to the machine.
On this, what does the machine refers to? The Huawei modem or the computer When I connect the Huawei modem to Netgear, I don't get Internet and therefore cannot change the settings of the Netgear.

Notes: Haven't yet got the Portal ID, will get it tomorrow.

I do hope someone can shed light on these. I am not technical person, but I do find my way around. Fell free to make your reply 'Idiot-Proof'.

    1. For email, use mail.bsnl.in

    2. Try in Internet Explorer.

    3. I think by machine, it is your PC here.

Use this guide for your AR.. modem

Refer this (similar interface as AR..)

Thank you for your speedy response.

Mail works fine with mail.bsnl.in . Like I've said, I don't use it, I want to log on to DataOne and change the password, which I can't do from the sancharnet mail.

I will go through the thread that you have given and see if those works.

Another thing I have encountered just now is that I opened Selfcare Portal in IE. Tried to register myself and when I give my BB username and click next, it came back with BB is not active. When I tried to log in with my registration done earlier on Chrome, it just goes "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Thanks, essbebe, for your detailed and very informative answer.

I'm not really bothered with Problem 1 & 2. It was just irritating that I cannot get into it.

Since the AR800 is sometimes not working for some computer, I thought it would be a better option since I have those two anyway. By those two, I mean the Smart AX MT880 and Netgear WGR614v9 - yes, finally got the model number.

I reset the AR800, and followed the instruction you have given. From this computer, I cannot connect it wirelessly, just with LAN. I will check it with my Laptop and let you know.

I'll have to do the speed test when I'm connected to the BSNL. Right now, I'm using Reliance as I still cannot get the BSNL to work on this computer.
