Thread: Bsnl prepaid broadband connection

Hi All,
I recharged a coupon of 200Rs online(data.bsnl.in) to my prepaid account.
I never went to customer care to activate prepaid services on my telephone. But looks like they have created on for me themselves. After recharging 200 successfully i can see my account details in data.bsnl.in. Now that i dont know how to configure my modem for that prepaid account. I have a postpaid connection on the same line(Home 500+).

Can someone tell me how do i use my prepaid connection?
How to configure the modem in order to select prepaid account usage instead of postpaid one?
How this prepaid broadband works?

I live in Bangalore. Called up customer care, its of no use. They just say "this is postpaid dept please contact another number" .

Did you got any ID and password for your prepaid connection. I remember reading that you get a different ID and password which can be used from any number (your postpaid ID and password works only on your number). You just need to use this new ID and password in dialer (if you are in bridge mode) or in modem (in case of PPPoE).

Earlier BOTH postpaid and Prepaid menu options were shown in data.bsnl.in Just now checked and now the menu has been deleted.
The website where you recharged you account may have the additional options to check usage :
change usageportalID/PW etc.
or details of tariff plan etc as in postpaid web site.

i did not get any username and password. All i did was just recharged my account with 200Rs. Please see the screenshot. Now i need to know what is the user id and password to be used. i can see both postpaid and prepaid services in a single page.
how does the user-id and password looks like? i can see some service id in my account. Ends with @ppbb.bsnl.in. Is this the one to use?? If so how? from where can i get the password. Can i have the prepaid customer care number? i am fed up with calling 18004241600/1503/1504. they all say this is postpaid service contact the other number

Please let me know what to do.

Additional usage id/pw not required.

Select the other menu items When in prepaid menu page.
"SELECT TYPE OF SERVICE " down arrow.
check for menu item date wise details of download.

do you get a different page ?
or you have to login again ?

even postpaid broadband details will be displayed in this page itself. All the details are available in this page itself. But username password is not given anywhere. i dont know how to retrieve them. Please help retrieving the username and password. i tried using the service id ------@ppbb.bsnl.in and password as "password" itself in modem. But its saying authentication failure. Probably the username and password are invalid. Please help.

confusion !!!
For a Post paid BB connection you use usually
ab(stdCode)(phonenumber)@bsnl.in PW password ( default)

For a PREPaid connection
abxxxxxxxxx @ ppbb.bsnl.in PW( default) ???

If you set your modem in "bridged " mode now
no need to store either ID/PW in modem wan page.
Access which ever account you want using a "DIALER"
in computer.

How did you connect now to Internet ?
Prepaid or post paid connection ?
which ID PW you used?
How you got connected to Internet to RECHARGE your acct ?

Currently i am using postpaid connection in PPPoE mode. Not in bridge mode. For postpaid connection my username is different. it is not ab<stdcode><phonenumber> as u said. Mine it is <name><2 digit number>.bsnl.in.

i want to know prepaid connection username and password. How are u using? how to configure my modem for prepaid connection.

DID I say you will get your userid and PW for PREPAID BB ????
Why you assume differently and miss the point..

What difference does it make how your Postpaid Id is formed ?
I mentioned "Usually" Not ALWAYS. different circles use different ids.

QUESTION:
For POST paid Connection :
You have a userid/pw to connect to internet
to log in Data.bsnl.in you may have a different ID and PW .
MOST of us do not have ppbb.bsnl.in to log in portal data bsnl.in
Yours also can be example abc12312112010@bsnl.in
(called a 14 digit Usage portal ID : use in data.bsnl.in )
or may be BSNL has started this new id method .

PREPAID connection: USERID/ PW
Did you ever access Internet earlier with this connection ?
Do you remember the ID/PW given to you ?

ANYONE having a BSNL landline can buy these prepaid cards ,
even without having a POST paid connection.
I am guessing :
it could be simply (stdcode) (phone number) PW password.

Para two:
If you want to be in PPPoE (always On Mode ) and store your
PREPAID ID and PW in WAN page of modem,
You can enter ONLY a single ID and PW>
Use another modem for Post paid. or again change settings.

i do not remember username and password. I have never used prepaid credentials for internet access. let me tell u i did not even request BSNL to create a prepaid account at all for me. They created it for me as i am a BSNL postpaid consumer.

Coming to PPoE mode, I am using only one connection at a time. When i use postpaid username and password its working fine. I dont know whats my user-id and password for prepaid. I tried that ab<std><phone number>@.ppbb.bsnl.in username and password "password", but i could not access internet. So i changed to postpaid again now.

I can see the menu same as ur screenshot.

Thing is i need to know my prepaid username and password.
Please help retrieving them.

The ID/PW used here.
Log in again at data.bsnl.in click HELP menu.
You recharged your PREpaid connection !
Still I don't know the other options available in this page !!
