Default Bandwidth dropped to 512 kbps from 2 mbps

    Here is what happened -

On oct. 1st my connection got disconnected due to non payment. In the afternoon i was unable to use BSNL broadband,But in night when i tried to connect my broadband it got connected, I have no idea why it worked even though i didn't pay the bill, but i was only getting a max speed of 60-65 kbps (512 kbps) where i used to get around 250 kbps (2 mbps)

First i thought it could be a bug and will be fixed after i pay my due bill,And i paid it on monday 3rd oct. at BSNL exchange.

But however i'm still getting the same 50-60 kbps lame speed since last 6 days,I even tried my friends modem but same 50-60 kbps speed.

Can anyone please tell me how do i fix it ?

What is the name of your plan with Bsnl? If you are on a 2mbps plan you should call up their customer service and see what they have to say about it because your connection might have been wrongly capped to 512.

    1. Mention modem - model and make

    2. Which plan do you use ? Does it have any FUP ?

    3. Post the screen shot of your modem menu page (blacken MAC ID).

    4. How did you check the speed ? Download any file from Microsoft (no need to download fully) and report the speed.

    5. Do you use torrents ? What speed are you getting in it ? Use a well seeded torrent and update the speed.

    6. A visit to local exchange may help. Talk to SDE or JTO and ask them to check the port settings in DSLAM.
