Just like your telephone no. Will be the same always. Helps you host your own sites on in-home servers. Not much use for domestic use.

    Didn't get you.

Most file hosting sites has a particular download limit per IP per day for free users. If you have dynamic IP, you can disconnect and reconnect (in case of dialer mode) and restart modem (in PPPoE mode) to get your IP renewed. By this way, you can easily overcome the download limit per IP.

If you have a static IP (external), even if you restart the modem, new connection will have the same IP and you will not be able to continue download as free user if your daily quota is reached.

Also static IP costs around Rs. 1,500 year (certainly not free under normal cases).

    Hope it is clear now.

sometimes the power goes off while downloading the file. So that i need to download the at from beginning. Does static ip solves this problem(sometimes mediafire link doesn't support the resume option).

No, static IP has nothing to do with it. It is one of the reasons that I prefer torrents than file hosting sites. You can try using Jdownloader but still you won't get anything more than the site offers. But if Mediafire supports resume (I think it does), you will be able to bypass the error and start from the broken part even with dynamic IP.

jdownloader is free & it supports more than 100 file hosts.also you can continue mediafire links in jdownloader by keeping the max no. of connections to 2.i use max no. of downloads 2 & no. of connections 2 for mediafire links only list to download & easily get ~190KBps.only catch is when you start a list of say 10-15 medifire links after downloading 2-3 links mediafire suddenly ask for captcha enter to prove you are human.once you do this rest of links will get downloaded without problem.sometimes because of this reason i had to wake up at 3AM to enter captcha.this is the reason why i don't use MF for a long list of links if i am planning to sleep without break.

Jdownloader is optimized for free account users of file sharing sites. IDM works well with normal downloads from regular sites. Give it a try, you will know the difference.
