Normally for One telephone two tariff plans are not allowed. FAQ.
Can I have more than one broadband connection, for redundancy/up time?
You can have more than one line, however we cannot guarantee service on broadband connections, therefore we do not suggest an additional broadband line for redundancy/up-time
    .

You may try here to register for the new plan.
    http://udaan.bsnl.co.in/ No log in required.
Mention present ID and plan in use.

Use same modem and Use dialer mode Only one connection at a time..
No 3 . OK. Mention modem model number /make.
    No2 doubtful.
    No 1: see option above.
What is expected d/l every month during NU?

with Home 750 plan 02AM to 08 AM
    max download possible : 64KB/sec 3.6MB/min 200 MB /hour
    say approx 1 GB/day. full month 30 GB. . ( 6 hours block )
With 2 Mbps connection approx 4 GB./per day Month 120 GB

Line condition seems to be good. What is the current experience ? Do you get uninterrupted connection on UL 750 ? If yes, you will most probably get a stable connection and good speed with Home Combo 500 too.

Regarding 20 % discount on second line, I found no clause in the offer like " Only for one connection ". This is no subsidy but an ad strategy by BSNL to keep government employees as its customer. So you may get 20 % discount on second line too. Please do update if it is otherwise.

    @essbebe

    1) My modem is Nokia Siemens 1600 Residential Router

    2) With 750UL i download about 30GB per month. With Night unlimited i expect about 2GB/day. I need this plan because i have to do lots of video streaming for my work (downloading not uplinking). With this plan i can do it in less time at less price (Rs.440 Approx)

    @meetdilip
Earlier when i was using Adsl2+ my SNR was about 10 with frequent disconnections, so i changed it to G.DMT and now i dont get any disconnection.
My house is about 7 km from exchange.

I dont have any problem with speed. I get full speed according to my plan and support in exchange is also good.
In my area BSNL Broadband is the only option for unlimited internet.
By selecting it my total cost will also remain Rs.1100 (Rs.660+Rs.440) and i dont have to spend for hardware separately.

Register for Udaan for a 2nd Broadband connection ONLY.
See the reply/reaction from Bsnl. .
If not possible ask for 2nd telephone line + BB again. . Choose the
lowest possible telephone rent plan. Even for a day you have to pay Installation charges and security deposit for telephone calls.

If needed, get another Adsl modem on rent for second line. .
NS1600 is similar to WA3002_g4. well documented.

    @ maxsteel

Distance is a bit on the lower side. But I think you should be getting 200 + KBps if your line condition is stable (from what you say). As suggested above, Udaan is the fastest way to get it done.

    @ essbebe

Unable to find any option to apply for an extra broadband connection on the same line. The only option seems to be to apply for broadband which may be for those who already have a land line but no broadband. Is it possible to have more than one broadband connection on same line ?

I have calculated the charges and it is about Rs.3000

    Security Deposit - Rs.2000 (Refundable)
    Installation - Rs.500
    Local+STD - Rs.500
Broadband Charges - Rs.400 (BBG FN Combo 500 After 20% Discount)

I dont have to pay any rental because BBG FN 500 is a combo plan

will it be right to take modem on rent because i will be using only 1 line at a time so i thought that my current modem will be ok for it? (I Purchased it from BSNL)

I used Udaan for my 1st connection and it was useless for me. I received call from Noida and they told me that i have to go to exchange. I completed all the work manually to get the BB connection. I had to make about 4 visits to exchange to get the broadband. I got connection after 1 week of submitting the application

BSNL is no longer supplying modems, so no option to rent it now. When you apply a new connection, you need to verify your identity, so that may need a personal visit with supporting documents. But if you try a manual application, it will rest in admin section table for 2 days, 2 days in tech section table and then a few more days before getting processed. Better apply online for fast response.

You can use the same modem or get a new one. How many devices do you intend to use ? If more than one, you need to be in PPPoE mode and you will need to change the password every time your change the connection. If you have only one system in use, try dialer / bridge mode and simply change the ID in dialer while switching connection (you need to plug in the other line in modem too).

    @meetdilip
Probably we will get the feedback from @maxsteel.
I used SAME modem for TWO different isps. Airtel/Bsnl
    Simply changed the Rj11 cable.
The problem will be one UserID/PW already PORT "binded" to say
    telephone number 22123456.
But the exception is: BSNL allows PREpaid BB on SAME telephone line
( or from any L/L anywhere In India ), whether you have POST paid BB
    connection or not.
    So it may be possible.

@whitestar_999 familiar with Setup at Exchange end. may respond.

Valid point. May be it is the same with post paid too.

i have only 1 laptop and i connect it using wifi. i use dialer so i can change username while connecting without any problem.

i remember when i visited first time to exchange it was very-very hard to locate any person in exchange. So i came back and contacted the lineman of my area. he gave me the form and he completed all my additional work. so i got connection in 1 week.

but this time i have to take landline+broadband so i dont know how much time it will take. I will call my area lineman tomorrow to know about it, because he is the only person in BSNL for me, who can help in getting LL+BB fast.

Prepaid broadband is not an option because even Airtel 3G is cheaper for me in comparison to it. (Airtel 3G is available at my location but BSNL 3G is not)

DSLAM at local exchange has ports each connected to a single telephone line.this is the point at which max connection speed of bsnl adsl connection is set.since all these 4mbps plans comes with a FUP & reduced speeds of 256-512kbps i am guessing that now there is also some kind of speed limit software policy available at the main NIB facility in bangalore.however in this case since thread op has an existing 512kbps UL connection & want a 2mbps connection it seems difficult.only way i see this can be done is by changing the DSLAM port speed limit to 2mbps from existing 512kbps & then use the speed policy i mentioned to reduce speeds whenever the account is used with 512kbps credentials on the same line.applying for another line would be a better option especially since thread op said he got the 1st connection after 1 week of submitting the application at local exchange.

Today i went to exchange. I asked them about 20% discount and they said that i will get it on my 2nd line also.

i have one question that i forgot to ask them.

BSNL has a contention ratio of 1:25 which means with me 24 other people will also have connection from the same line. so if some other person is also using night unlimited at the same time (for heavy downloading) as mine what will be the speed that i will get.

Did you ask them for a second ID/PW on same single Telephone ?

Hope the other 24 don't use auto download schedulers when you download .
Probability of all 24 using the same line at the same time Remote.
Your download may not be affected.

Thanks for the update. Rep added

No, don't think so. But overall heavy downloading in SSA can reduce the speed to some extent. Still it will be 180 + KBps even in the worst case as reported by members.
