Yes,. I have been facing the same problem from yesterday. A couple of hours back I called the DataOne Customer Care Number (1-800-424-1600) adn they acked me to check with the BSNL exchange. I did go over to the BSNL exchange and the guy there confirmed that the line is Fine,... As a next step he asked me to check with the JTO.,... Have not arrived at any solution yet,.. and still roaming around to get my Internet connection back. I am on the Home-1000 plan and am starting to think it may be the issue with the Modem I got (Siemens SL2-141). just have to hope the JTO has a solution to this problem.

All Right,.. now here's an update. Talking to the BSNL guys it looks like they would want to reset my password and have me try again (although I am 100% confident that I never given a wrong password). On Password Reset: My request was taken by an official at 3:00 PM Yesterday and this has not been done till now. It should not take more than 5 minutes to do a reset,.. unless they have a huge list of people for whom password resets are required. (Possible,.. if a common word would have come out to address this common problem,...) Result: I am still waiting to access internet

What is "port mapping" and how do I confirm is this is right for my connection? Can you please share references of any thread that discusses this in detail? As an update from my side,.... The BSNL guys reset the password for me and it worked. I am able to access the Internet now.

^ port mapping and port binding are different . here we are referring to port binding . it is to bind the network connection account with the telephone number . this is similar to caller ID feature . whenever someone tries to connect to the broadband , if the phone number tallies then only the connection will be established from the exchange's server . Any user can request for this feature so that others cannot misuse the broadband internet account .

| MMM This is not true. in port binding there is no relation with Caller id or phone Port binding in exchange where ur line is terminated is having some nomenclature like 9/0/15 it means u are on 10 card first frame and 16 slot .every port is having fixed VLAN address.in Port binding they bind ur username with this VLAN..ofcourse it port binding is having much more Real data is...BRAS|xx,slot=2;subslot=0;port=0;vlanid=yy;vla nid2=zz here xx is BRAS number, vlanid is ur copper termination port ,vlanid2 is ur dslam vlan .in this example u have bounded upto the port from first to last |

sir, i have taken a bsnl broadband connection 3 months ago. bsnl has provided siemens c2110 adsl modem. bsnl's technician came to me and connected modems with my pc. And they said within 72 hours line will active. But after 4-5 days I have tried to connect my line by dialing. They provided username and password. But modem always failed to connect the line by 2-3 times dialing. After 70-99 times continue dialing (auto dial), i have received line i.e. line became connected. Then i compained to bsnl. but till now they have not taken any action against this. When I dial a windows show wrong username & password, error 691, whereas username password is ok. now tell me what should i do.
