Thread: Help needed in selecting Wifi Modem

Hi,
Please help in choosing the best wifi modem from the following:

1. Teracom ADSL Wireless Modem Router T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI.
BSNL claims to offer 2 Years warranty. Came to know that BSNL in the near future would exit from the business of selling CPE modems. So not sure of bsnl's support in case of any problems within the 2 year warranty period.

2. Linksys ADSL2+ Wireless-N Modem Router Part # WAG120N (1 Year Warranty)
Seems to be a well accepted, all round performer.

3. Belkin SURF ADSL2+ Wireless Modem Router (N) Part # F7D2401zb (3 Year Warranty)
Heard its difficult to setup but a good performer.

4. iBall Baton 54M Wireless ADSL2+ Router (b/g) Part # iB-WR6111A (3 Year Warranty- from vendor website)
Came to know about this model from IBF forum.

Mainly I want a modem router which is trouble free, easy to setup, good wireless range & reception(no wireless signal disruption) & which lasts. This is meant for home use.

Teracom is a very good modem as per reports from members here. The price is also less compared to premium brands. It is not that BSNL will exit, as far as I know BSNL no longer supplies CPEs in most circles. I think those who are getting it from BSNL is may be due to availability of stock. My friend who got a new connection some 3 months back was told that he should buy modem from open market.

BSNL modems were cheap and rent facility was available. BSNL personnel were never good enough to repair modems, they simply replace it if it is within warranty.

If you are worried about after service, you can try Belkin or Linksys. My friend who recently bought a Belkin modem took only 2 minutes to set it up. Some models has WPS which helps you set up WiFi in less than 30 seconds.

I have decided to go with Teracom wifi modem. Earlier had a BSNL supplied Huawei MT882 modem which served well for 5 years without any issues. In between I got a chance to try out Netgear DGN1000
adsl wireless modem router. The irony is the after service was excellent but the product was not good!
I would be happy as long as the product is good even if its a local make.
