Default BSNL 4 mpbs plan....get max 380KBPS download

    Hi,
I am using Beetel 450TC1 as wireless modem/router.

I have recently taken BSNL 1350 4 MBPS plan and lifted the cap limit also.

When they do speedtest from exchange, they get a value upto 3.3 mbps. But if I do speedtest from home, I get 1 mpbs or 1-2 mbps. Not good streaming of youtube.

    My SNR valuer are:
    SNR: 38+.
Attenuation: Less than 10, I see normally around 6-7.

    Any ideas?

Post a screen shot of modem menu page.

How did you check the speed ? speedtest.net ? It can give confusing values at times. Try any download from Microsoft and check the speed. You can also use a healthy torrent and see what you get.

everything seems to be alright as far as ur modem is concerned....i would suggest u to have netmeter software on ur computer like NETWORX..download it its free...i thing some virus must be blocking or downloading from ur computer....just restart in safe mode and do speedtest......because u should get around 400 KBPS

yep check if u have virus related probs then check speed on laptop because im getting around 6 to 7 mbps on 1350 plan or just ask bsnl senior oficer & ask him to set your speed to 4mb.

    @ sup_dude

Data rate of modem seems to support 4 Mbps. You ignored the second part of the query.

    @ OP

Members raise queries to help you find a solution and if you choose to be selective, I am afraid you are on the loosing side.

    Thanks for your concern guys.

@meetdilip, I have checked downloads from healthy torrents. It never goes beyond 380 kbps and the strange part is the download speed fluctuates a lot. It touches max 350 odd KBPS and then varies a lot. I have done upload speed limiting on torrent at 10 KBPS....can it be a reason?

@param_nokia, downloaded the netmeter. Will do the virus scan and speedtest with it.

Guys I switched from Airtel to BSNL due to customer negligence. BSNL guys were initially very prompt but lets see now...

Try any download from Microsoft and check the speed
use a download manager & download directx redistributable setup(~100mb)& see what speed you get.4mbps means you should get ~415KBps.

That seems to be a bit contradictory. Torrents were never good means to measure the speed. Use IDM and update the speed while downloading from Microsoft.
