    Arrow Upload speed problem

Why is my download speed 1.80mbps whereas upload is only 0.40mbps?

    I get
    230+KB for download
    30-40KB for upload
My friend said it may be due my modem Teracom ADSL 2.
If so which modem will give good upload speed? preferably 200+KB?

    Mention your location.

Why is my download speed 1.80mbps whereas upload is only 0.40mbps?

Because in ADSL, upload speed is always lower than download speed.

    I get
    230+KB for download
    30-40KB for upload

For any plan above 1 Mbps, maximum upload speed will be 768 Kbps. By that value, your upload speed is certainly low. Post a screen shot of your modem menu page. You can also try talking to JTO or SDE of your exchange on the same.

No, I don't think different modem models have anything to do with upload speed.

BSNL does not offer 200 + KB upload in ADSL, may be you should try FTTH.

You upload data rate is set as 512 Kbps, ask SDE of your exchange to increase it to 768 Kbps or higher.

Already started, I think around 6 months since launch now. Pings are lower and upload speeds are better than ADSL. I think 512 Kbps unlimited costs around Rs. 800. But other plans are insanely costly at the moment.

You cannot do anything in this. It is set on the port for your connection at exchange on DSLAM. Talk to someone knowledgeable at exchange and seek assistance.

BSNL is much better compared to other government offices. There are some helpful people in BSNL too. Avoid talking to first one on the desk and enquire for JTO or SDE. They normally understand these things and it takes only a few minutes to set it right.

Or you can simply complain here and wait for someone to attend

But a personal visit to exchange will be a better idea.
