Most of the modems provided by BSNL are more or less of the same quality. This modem is in par with the Teracom series. You should be more concerned about the condition of the existing telephones lines on your premises / the distance of the nearest BSNL exchange from your premises / positioning of the ADSL modem (do not keep it near EMF sources) etc ..

Mention your location ? Did you enquire at exchange about the availability of modem and price ? In most circles, BSNL has stopped supplying modems.

I used to have the same modem which got damaged after some 6 months and got a replacement for free. But I think that was a singular case as many were happy with the same modem.

The modem performed very well with good WiFi range while it was working.

Mention your current modem - model and make. You can get an iBall router for Rs. 900 something which can be used with your current non WiFi modem.

Yep, you can do that and keep the current modem as backup. Or pay Rs. 1,000 and use WiFi with non WiFi modem + iBall router.
