Thread: Youtube streaming is too slow on BB FN Combo 600

Hello everyone this is my first post. I'm having a 2Mbit/sec bsnl Broadband connection, my downloading speed is pretty good (as per plan) around 220~250kB/sec but steaming from youtube is very slow even a 240p streaming takes so much time to buffer, whereas if i stream from other sites like metacafe vimeo etc there is no such problems it works fine. Browse from firefox ie and opera still the same case. Any help?

You can try add-on programs such as Video Accelerator Plus.

Also changing the DNS settings from BSNL default to Google DNS or Open DNS may help.

Offtopic Query:

Are youtube videos getting cached with BSNL BB? Or does the connection re-download the videos every time we try to replay it? Are the videos getting preloaded when we hit the pause button once the video begins to play?

I am on Airtel using OpenDNS - finding that the videos are not being cached since the past few days..

i've tried Open dns 8.8.4.4 and speedbit video accelerator but still doesn't help.

You are having this problem from the beginning itself?

yes from the beginning only. Previously i used TATA photon+ download at 90~110kB/sec, and stream from youtube (360p) without any lag

Try restoring your pc to an earlier date when it last played in youtube.

no i think restoring is not an issue, even today i used my previous Photon+ the streaming is fine with Photon+ but not with bsnl

Then, there may be some problem at BSNL's end.Contact someone at the nearest exchange, maybe they need to change the port.

becz same thing works fine in dailymotion stream

Nothing like that, it's working fine with BSNL.

But my neighbor having a BB connection (ip 117.XX.XX.XX mine 59.xx.xx.xx) doesn't have this problem. We live just a few meters from Bsnl exchange.

Don't worry, just contact them and they will sort out the problem soon.

YouTube working fine on my UL 750.

Maybe BSNL wants you to concentrate on your studies/work (strikeout whatever is not applicable).
