It has been my experience that with BSNL, the best way to change plan is to submit a written application (in duplicate) to the customer care center at the local exchange. Get the duplicate stamped by them as "RECEIVED ON __/__/____" with signature.

Online applications seems to work faster. Mostly manual application lie on the staff's table for a few days before it even gets an approval. The same case is repeated with a bunch of officials and make the whole process slow. Some users reported the plan change in just hours using the udaan site. I think udaan site need verification as anyone can start a lead in your name, but portal as it got your ID and password needs no verification.

Online application should work faster in normal sense. But if "babus" do not look at papers on the table, what is the guarantee that they will look at online queries/applications/complaints? Just a thought.

Don't know, my comments are just reproduction of feedback by a few members who tried online plan change.

once a plan change is put in, is it changed by an officer or the system itself performs the change?

i remember there was a plan Home UL 1350, what hapnd to that plan? it only seems that Home UL 750 is currently running !!!

I think once you apply plan change, it is recorded in the system and forwarded to some official for action. May be it reaches the correct person faster than the manual application. UL 1350 used to offer 512 Kbps unlimited which you can get now on UL 750. Instead for Rs. 1,350 you get BBG Combo ULD 1350 which gives 4 Mbps upto 20 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 20 GB.

Actually the UDAAN project has been started by BSNL in order to provide as many services as possible to the people by door step collection of the filled forms, etc. Believe me or not it is really quicker and effective than by giving manual application forms.

As per the info given by one of my friends who is a S.T.L, BSNL UDAAN Project:

Initially it goes directly to the system of STL(Sales Team Leader), under him there are two SAs(Sales Associates) and he informs one of the associates then the associate contacts the user and notes down his address and then he visits his house and collects the filled application form from the user and remaining is processed by them.
