    Default Beetel 220bxi firmware

I have a Beetel 220bxi modem with these stats.

    Board ID: 96338L-2M-16M
    Software Version ID: V8.11.01.01
    Firmware Version: 3.06L.05.A2pB021g.d19d
    Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-6.8

Does anyone have the right Newest firmware for it?

Also I want to backup its current firmware so if things go wrong I can revert back to old, if possible.

Besides, I find it more stable on ADSL2 but everytime I restart it, it goes back to ADSL2+.

May I know why you require a firmware update ? Mention the problem you are facing with your current modem / connection. Firmware update should be tried as last solution as if something goes wrong, you will brick your modem. If you are facing disconnection issues, try this guide

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...ubleshoot.html (Frequent Disconnection : Steps to troubleshoot)

And if you are determined to go ahead with firmware upgrade, make sure you connect your modem to UPS as power failure will mostly make your modem unusable.

Firmware update is strictly not recommended unless advised by the manufacturer. Modems often go bust during firware upgrade. If there is a new firmware available, make sure that:

    - it is compatible with your device
    - if it is a BSNL provided modem, BSNL modifies firmware that is best suited to work in their network
    - the firmware must be downloaded from a known source such as BSNL or the manufacturer website; never trust some others - even driverguide.com

Warning: Even if you backup existing firmware, most routers do not allow downward upgrade to previous version. Firmware change is usually a one-way street.

If you are having problems with modem, best contact BSNL and get the fault rectified. They may even replace your modem with a new one (free of cost if under warranty).

As advised in above posts, it is hoped you will try alternate
suggestions to solve your Internet problem.
Also I want to backup its current firmware so if things go wrong I can revert back to old, if possible
    Once "Bricked" no hope..
You can SAVE current settings to Harddisk and restore in Unit with FW.

I find it more stable on ADSL2 but everytime I restart it, it goes back to ADSL2+.
Uncheck the Button ADSl2+ ( IN DSL menu ) SAVE Reboot from Management Menu. Wait for 2 minutes.

    Para two:

This particular model Beetel 220BX and variations usually supplied by Airtel can be Upgraded with their recommended FW.
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...mpilation.html (BEETEL 220bx ETC essbebe's compilation.)
If still interested At your own risk !

Airtel technicians , used to upgrade the FW at site , or Online
for me earlier. I have also used a BeetelupgradeTool ( lower FW version via command.com) and then upgraded normally to latest

Type 192.168.1.1/look.html to get the FW details.
    ( ignore Fonts)
I have the same model as 110BXI ( NO USB PORT)
with latest FW> Hardware Board .

    Code:
If it works do not repair

Its pretty old modem and so is the firmware. May there would be improvements in the newer firmware, as thts why they are released.

Firmware updates are not like Windows updates and it was right to warn you of the risk involved. And I think the top contributors of India's biggest Broadband forum would know what firmware upgrade is and its relevance. Though I appreciate you kindness in enlightening them on the same.

I have updated mobile phone firmwares, dvd drive firmwares, BIOS etc. with lots of luck. So kinda thought it would be fine if I choose right firmware and don't let anything interrupt the process. But I feel like not doing it now as essbaby (lol) said, If it works, don't repair it.

If you have a spare modem, then surely maybe you can experiment with firmwares on this modem. There should always be a feasible Plan B while trying to accomplish such risks.

These Beetel models have stood the test of time , and my link below WA3002_g4 lists other modems/wifi routers based on same Hardware board. LAN only and Wifi models.
Recent trend is to avoid USB port
Minor changes in Menu items/addition for IPTV etc.
Some BSNL supplied models (eg: BSNL supplied Ut300r2u . does not have Virtual server/Port triggering options. so some users like to Upgrade the firmware. )
    2.
Please give feedback on suggestion made, regarding Mod mode.
    Any improvement ?

It is finally, the USER who decides what he can do with his equipment/s.
