    Exclamation Wireless mess !!

    Hello folks,
Something is going wrong. I have a dataone broadband connected to my Ut300R2U router. To open the router page i punched in the config in TCP/IPv4 the following
    Ip address- 192.168.1.3
    Subnet mask-255.255.255.0
    Defauly Gateway-192.168.1.1

    DNS Preferred- 192.168.1.1
    Alternate-218.248.255.145

The Lan connection says now Network 2 after identifying.

I have a Bation 150M wireless router. I'm running setup it pops up a message "The connection has limited or no connectivity,Please make sure router's DHCP server is enabled".
Where this dhcp is to be enabled ? I want the desktop to act as a wireless access point and i want 2 laptops to connect simultenously to the wireless network without disconnecting the desktop connection. My broadband is running in bridge mode and it does not work in PPoE mode.
Please guide me how to configure my connection and make a WAP.

Why is my wireless not detecting the dhcp whereas my connection is working fine .

Secondly how can i open the wiress router config, as when i type 192.168.1.1 the modem router config opens. How can i access both?

    Reply soon thanks.

    1. Mention your OS.

    2. Mention the mode of modem and router .

    3. Does it show wireless network in your laptop ? If yes, what happens when you try to connect to it ?

You can enable DHCP after logging into the modem.

    This may help

My OS is Win7 Homepremium and modem is BAton ADSL2+ router and wireless router is BAton 150m.
I changed the modem from the bsnl modem to baton. While running the wireless setup on my desktop it says "Lan Port status=Pass and Wan port status=Failed.with an error "FAILED TO CHECK NETWORK STATUS".
1.Please check the network connectivity and
2.Please check the model of your router.

The fact that you are already connected to the internet means that somehow your modem/router is functioning under PPPoE mode aka always on mode...

Disable this and you will be able to dial and diconnect from the dialer...

To open the modem page enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your browser..

My modem connects as soon as the system boots as i set it in ppoE mode. But how will i disconnect the connection on my pc if i dont want the internet and use as required. The dialup is just a waste sitting on the desktop .I have to shut the modem off or disable it.

in pppoe mode you can disconnect only by turning off the modem.even when lan is disabled on pc modem still remain connected to network.buy why is this a problem if you are the only one using net & password protected your wifi(using WPA2).

edit:depending on your modem there might be a way to do this like in a dialer connection.in some modems like mine there is a command through telnet that can disable & enable the ADSL link.still i only use this to disconnect & reconnect my modem at 2:05 & 7:55AM without restarting modem through commands because i personally don't like modem rebooting just for this when i can do it without rebooting modem.both require a simple 1 line command.

That is a myth. In PPPoE, even if you keep your modem ON and PC is idle, the internet usage will be nil. If you want to be sure about it, simply use a firewall and block all connections. You can use the guide below to select a good firewall. Most firewalls offer complete isolation from internet in a single click.

meetdilip i was tryin hard to configure my laptop to my pc and surf simultaneously but i gave up. Many suggested to disable dhcp which i dont know where it resides and how will the laptop get an assigned ip from the desktop. It all ended up so confusing so i opt and tried ppope. I wanted to use the dialer both in desktop and laptop freedom to dail when and as. i recently purchased a D-link 2750U wireless modem router and gosh it had plently to options all going through my head.Isn't there a simple guide step by step to configure both pc and laptop to surf simultaneously without jargon or any prog to set the values in windows 7 home premium.

To enable DHCP, you need to log into modem.

Is it something like freedom of speech or press ? In the previous posts it is clearly mentioned that you can connect and disconnect internet either by switching off modem or using a firewall.

Asking doubts is one thing and insisting on going by your demands which may not be technically feasible i

If you are unable to solve the issues or mistrust those suggestions, you can always take the modem to exchange and ask BSNL people to do it for you. Or these days, there are many electronics guys who do it for a small fee.
