Thread: Torrent Speed Problem

Hi, my torrent shows that it is downloading at 45kBps but network gadget(Win 7 gadget) shows full speed of 64kBps. I have UL 750 plan(512 kbps). I have disabled Windows update,antivirus and everything but still the max speed that utorrent shows is 45kBps. I never get full speed on torrent . I have tried many healthy torrents but still no use. Any help would be great. Pls help.

In uTorrent version 2.2.1 & later:
1) Your traffic overhead (being the ack packets in the reverse direction to the actual traffic, or the headers inside them) is now being clearly viewable:
You can see it on the dotted speed-graph lines + the "O:" on the bottom status bar
If your "Bandwidth->Apply rate limit to transport overhead" is enabled ( advanced->net.calc_overhead = true in pre-2.03 releases), overhead will also be counted toward your speed limit (added to your payload-data speed).

simple meaning:torrent speed in download is always less than actual download rate of connection.example:i get 195-200KBps in torrent but my network bandwidth software reports ~220KBps.the difference is because of the overhead.
total download rate=download rate(in torrent/download manager whatever)+overhead.

more no.of connections means more overhead but too less connections means less speed.only way is trial & error method.turn on net.calc_overhead in advanced preferences & you can see the real bandwidth that you are currently using and not just the payload.
