Thread: Modem repair?

My Nokia Siemens Residential Router 1600 was working fine, but then it stopped working all of a sudden. Maybe it was due to power fluctuations or something, but the DSL link light does not glow when I turn the modem on. I checked with other modem, so the line is perfect. My question is that is there a way I can get the modem repaired? I bought it on outright purchase, so BSNL wont replace it. Moreover, it is past its 1 year warranty, so I guess buying a new one is the only other option.

1. Is it getting power ? I mean, does the power LED glow ? If no, replace the power adapter and check.

2. Try resetting the modem and reconfigure it. That may bring some difference.

3. Try a firmware upgrade and check.

4. Try bridge mode and check.

5. Some electronics guys are good enough in doing this. Take it to someone knowledgeable and check. You can also take the modem to BSNL and see if someone there has any ideas to get it back to working condition.
