Default Modem problem or shall I blame it on the line?

Hey guys how are you all?
I just changed my plan to 750 UL and I am quite a happy man now.

But my modem is still disturbing me.
It doesn't happen all the time but when it happens it just annoys me. The LINK light keeps blinking.

    DSL Status Connected
    Last Failed 0x00000000
    Downstream Data Rate 11235 kbps
    Upstream Data Rate 294 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate 11300 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate 294 kbps
    SNR (Downstream) 6.5 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 5.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 23.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 12.5 dB
    Connected Standard Bis

Could it be the modem or the line?

I was thinking of buying this one Flipkart: Netgear Wireless-N 150 Router: Router

So suppose I buy this from store myself, will I be able to keep the DSL modem provided by BSNL?
And if the wifi modem also keep getting disconnected it could be the problem of the line. In that case what can be done?
Can they fix from their side or they will have to be in my house to fix it?
    Thanks.

I recorded this when the light was continuously blinking

    SNR (Downstream) 9.0 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 8.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 21.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 12.0 dB
    Connected Standard G.Dmt

    The telephone line is alright.

poor values for your connection.get your line checked & if lineman still insist or you too want to check get another modem either from a friend or ask lineman/bsnl to show improvement in snr values with another modem.

Yep, SNR is a bit too low. Even if you replace the modem you will be continue facing disconenction issue.

    Thanks both of you.

But how to tell all this to lineman?

What is meant by 'he will give a clean line'? Will he give new modem or something like that?

Hope you tried the link above. It is better talk to someone knowledgeable like SDE than taking the issue with lineman. But if you prefer dealing with line man first, tell him that give a line without joints or non insulated / oxidized parts.

Ok I will talk with the SDE. Will the lineman do anything inside my house or he can do all these from outside? I have school, tuition, guitar class and blabla so I hardly get to stay at home.

If line man handles it well, there will be no need for your presence. If there are any joints in line that pass through the inner portion of your house, either make arrangements that he fix it or arrange the process when you are available.
