in the overview page of modem (syrma technology pvt ltd. model AR800V v3.0) under Internet connection i see the DSL status: not connected but DSL and internet light are glowing. What does that mean? Ofcourse i'm not able to connect through BSNL.

Strange ! Ping and upload speed better in BSNL ?
Airtel 999 has FUP ? Which plan BSNL 950 ? Thinks you crossed FUP on it, or is it that you are getting low speeds ?
oh, care to mention the BSNL plan details ? Is it a 2 Mbps plan ?
yes i have opted for UL950plus after keeping my connection in safe custody; before safe custody i was under this plan i had 2Mbps till 8Gb and henceforth 256Kbps, but when i checked BSNL portal now http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/new_BB...only_unlim.htm , i saw UL 900combo with 4Mbps till 8Gb and 256kbps after FUP, i will get back with exact details as i can't access selfcare portal of BSNL now.
As with airtel
i'm on 999 plan with 2Mbps till 10Gb and afterwards 256Kbps, but i'm more satisfied with airtel, with the speed they provide; their 256 speed is sufficient for normal web surfing after FUP, i dodn't see it as more pathetic its fine
I was a happy customer of BSNL for last 4yrs till i opted for Airtel when i moved to Delhi and when i access my mumbai home which has BSNL connection i understood the pathetic nature of BSNL, i will keep an eye on BSNL till i'm here with Airtel and ofcourse when i reach back home if the speed still sucks with BSNL surely i will move with AirtelAs of now with service point of view Airtel's wins

If not for the stupid FUP limits by Airtel, BSNL is certainly on the downside. You can simply arrange someone to visit the exchange on the speed issue. It takes less than 5 minutes to set it right if you are talking to the right person. Why pay high for this low speed ?
