Please mention your location and ISP also (assuming BSNL).

First and foremost, the Internet speed (download and upload) depends upon the plan. The line condition, modem, etc. play a secondary role only.

You internet speed can never increase the plan speed. In case of UL 499, the max speed is 256 kbps (kilobits) or 32 kBps (kilobytes).

You say that the speed reported by Speedtest.net is 25 kbps. I am assuming that this is kBps and not kbps. This is because your SNR and Attenuation rates are showing healthy values (Refer here: SNR Margin and Line Attenuation - What do they mean?). In this case the speed is near about right. Never mind the upload rate. Whether it is higher or lower is irrelevant and a different argument altogether. Your only only is to go for a plan that delivers higher speed.

Now if the speed is really 25 kbps then this is abyssimal. This is not broadband at all. But then at that speed, you will be hardly be able to use internet, let alone play games, download movies, etc. And in such case you should report the problem to SDE at your exchange.

Maximum speed for your plan is 32 KBps. If you are getting 25 Kbps, it is a good speed according to the plan. My plan is UL 750 and I am getting 60 +.

You can try this guide and see if you can improve your speed

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...onnection.html (How to: get max. speed of a connection)

Alternatively, you can use torrents for your downloads so even if it takes time, you can resume it any time. Since your plan is unlimited, you can seed enough also.

but i want download speed not upload bcos i m very heavy user of downloading like movies, games etc...

Switch to Home Combo 500. You will get 2 Mbps unlimited during 2-8 am. But the day time usage is mere 1.5 GB. It includes free calls and no extra phone bill unless you cross the free call limit. It is a choice you have to make between unlimited and speed.

No, you are already getting good speed for your plan. It is like asking will I get more salary if I switch home.

If configured correctly, any compatible modem will give the same performance (or even better) than BSNL modems.
