Default I'm getting 60-80 kBps for 2mbps plan...

Yesterday, the speed was as usual around 210KBPS. An hour ago, I switched ON my modem and it took like 3-4 minutes to get the dsl indicator to become constant. I did some speed tests, these are the result,
    speedtest.net: 80 down, 30 up
downloaded a file in idm: fluctuated between 60 to 80
utorrent: 68-71 (This file was giving me 190kBPS last time, and is heavily seeded)

I checked plan on edc selfcare portal, I'm on 500 combo fn bbg.
I'm on bridge mode, use open dns (don't know if dns server affects long downloads)

Is this slowdown temporary and will fix itself in few hours or am I supposed to ask bsnl to get this fixed? Help please!!

I just realised I can now post hyperlinks

Nothing to worry about, it's actually the line congestion that happens sometimes. All you need to do is just restart your modem and everything will be fine as like before.

well i actually did restart the modem a few times but it didn't work. I just restarted again and now the max download attainable is 3k kbps and actual is 2042 kbps but the upload is still less than .3k kbps . Guess the line congestion will clear up soon.. Thanks for replying.

Did you check with friends in the same area ? Are they facing this issue ?

If it was working fine till sometime back, I don't think there is any issue in your modem or PC settings. Or did it start to happen after you made any change or installed a new software ?

Disable firewall and antivirus and see if there is any difference.

Try talking to someone at the broadband section of your exchange and seek assistance.

Hope you are not facing problems like disconnection, slow page loading etc.

    No, because it was 12AM...

Its working fine now, I'm getting attainable speeds of 13000 kbps+ down and 876 kbps up.
So I guess it was just a temporary line congestion. In such cases, would my speed increase automatically or do I have to restart my modem after the congestion has cleared up?
by the way, is 'Noise margin' same as 'snr'?
In my modem it shows noise margin instead of snr?

Depends. In some cases, you need to restart the modem.

Yes, noise margin and SNR are same.

Yes, you have to restart the modem(even if the line comes back to normal condition) then only you will get the normal speed as per your plan.

    Different question related to speed.
What is the userID for sdc selfcare portal? When I try to register at selfcare_sdc_bsnl_co_in , it is asking for "BB User Id".
Any idea where I can find (this on my bill)?

it is asking for "BB User Id".
The Id you use to log in or stored in your modem wan page.
    Example ab08022334455 @ bsnl.in
Consumer No as shown in Telephone bill.
